It look like ur CSC files got problem.

try download the whole fw from the 1st thread, as the samfirmware one is corrupted. U are right to ue PIT 512.

It definitely got different, otherwise, it wont call 512 and 513, but what the different, i do not know.

According to Samfirmware, recommended to use 512. So far samfirmware pretty reliable. I think most Eclair use 512.

Ok.. let do this, try to get into recovery mode (Vol up + Home + power )
then come to the menu use the volume buttom to move the selection.
go to factory reset then press home button
then go to clear cache then press home button. (ps pressing home button mean to select the option)

One done this, press power button or pull out ur battery leave it for 30 second, then get into download and try flash again.
with repartition checked.

Ok.. if u use the update.zip, from recovery 2e, it will change ur recovery 2e to CWM, shd u wanna revert to the stock 2e, there is option from the CWM.

Subsequently, u just have to follow the instruction to install the particular fw that u want


Wait... u can't even get into ur phone, how are u going to copy the update.zip file into ur sdcard?

once u in 2e, just follow the step by steps from DOC's ROM froyo... every easy and clear.

Do factory reset & wipe cache then go into advance feature to do dalvik wipe. Reboot.

Well, i m on DOC's ROM 7.6.2 with JPD modem, i find the battery consumption is very good. The following photo with 2G, no APN, wifi on for total of 2 hours, angry birds for 1.5H. Launcherpro 8.1.1, ofcos there will be couple of video calls of total 30 mins, voice called total of 3 hours.

in theory, lagfix will not drain battery directly but indirectly. As it is smoother, u will be enjoying toying around it more, hence battery drained

Where u download the CM 6.1? can apply to our SGS?
Any installation guide?

1) Check from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=817703 look under alternative modems

2) Download it

3) copy the files to sdcard

4) then reboot into recovery (CWM)

5) i remove lagfix (some say u dun need to do that, but i prefer to unlagfix, afterall, it is very easy to lagfix from CWM options)

6) Once in Clockworkmod, select “install zip from sdcard”

7) Select “choose zip from sdcard” and then select the zip file. Then choose yes

8) then it will reboot, then i choose the ULF with the ext 4 again.

9) reboot the phone.

The tweaked launcher pro 8.1.1 is come with the package, when u 1st boot post installation, there should an option ask u to choose either ADW or Launcherpro. I bet u choose ADW at that time, and by accident, u must have choose ADW as a default. Not a big problem, u can always revert the option.

Setting > Application > Manage Application > ADW > (look under Launch by default) clear default

Then u reboot again, there should be option for ADW or Launcherpro

Ya.. they remove the gallery from DOc ROm 7.6.2 due to the complaint that the sensor remain active despite closing the gallery. Hence they recommend to download the Gallery 3D from market.

Most plp claimed that JPD modem give better battery life. I think Freakfingers also mentioned that battery life is better with the JPD, but wifi aint as strong compared to JPP. Well, i dun find this is a problem to me, as i can use wifi same as JPP...

i think if u install 7.6.2, even do a factory reset, the lancerpro, sgs tools wont be deleted, as it is part of the ROM apps. but gallery will be deleted as it is downloaded from market.

Well, in the installation guide, at the last steps, it said, dun use GPS, as it wil kill ur phone. Aiyo... CM 6.1 Beta not able to use GPS, that is sad...

I downloaded it, but i think i won't flash it 1st, as can't use the GPS... haiz...

Nandroid backup? Izzit same as titatium, mybackup? or it is backup programme that u can see it in the recovery mode?

Would there b any different for the PDA compared to the one from samfirmware? If flashed the PDA from sam, and put the CSC from this alternative link, would there be a problem?

For whatsapp:
when u use the call function from whatsapp, does it use the network, ie wifi or gprs or using ur telco?

I did a trial just now, i connected to wifi, and i called my friend, during conversation, i switch of the wifi modem, and the call did not disconnect. I got a bit confuse for this, my friend told me that if use whatsapp to call, it is using the network rather than the telco.

Anyone of you care to clear my mist? hee...
