Dear Sifu,
Kindly advise on the problem I faced. With the Byond, I send the HDMI output to my Plasma and used the coaxial output to my AVR-(As my AVR does not have HDMI input nor output).
I have cahnged the Byond audio output to 5.1 for the amp to decode, but the audio out put is strange as I could not get the actual 5.1, instead all the dialogue which is supposed to go smack in the centre speaker is being channelled to all my surround speaker. This is especially when I watch all HD channel. When I used the stereo out put in beyond then I get the normal Pro-Logic 2.
Question.
Are there any tweaks to optimise the full capacity of Byond 5.1 using the coaxial output to send 5.1 to AVR.

Not all programme on HD channels are broadcast on 5.1. Some of them are only DD2.1

I was using a similar setup to yours before I changed my amp. All I could get was 2.1. On my previous system 5.1 wasn't compatible. I guess you have to try out all the sound connection options. If it doesn't work most probably you need to upgrade your amp.

how about, using the audio output from tv, to avr? i guess, tv should have more option to control the output format.

First of all, not all movies come with 5.1. It can also be DD2.0 or AC3 2.0. Secondly, make sure you avr setting is correct. Make sure you're not using (forcing the amp to use) dolby prologic, neo, stereo or whatever if you want to enjoy its 5.1 surround.
