Hi, it has been quite some time i dint come to OC United, yesterday i went to KL to RMA my phone and i saw DDR3 ram was fxxking cheap, RM89 per stick of 2GB DDR3 value 1333mhz ram. Automatically my mental and physical go to the salesperson and ask for 2 stick of this Kingston value ram.
After playing with it, i found that it can do much better than i thought, therefore i decide to share it with all here. Since i cant find a RAM thread, i started a new thread instead.
Due to my phone was sent for RMA, i cant take photo of the real ram picture, but i look exactly same as other KVR in the market with half size. (aka Green version)Testing Platform:
Processor: Intel Core i5 750 @ 3.2ghz, Power saving ON Motherboard: Gigabyte P55-UD6 BIOS F10 RAM: KVR DDR3 1333mhz CL9 2x2gb, Adata XPG 1866+ V2.0 2x2GB DDR3 Graphic Card: Sapphire HD5770 HDD: Kingston SSD X25-m G1 80GB (aka Intel X25-m) Cooling: TRUE, Ram without cooling PSU: Gigabyte Odin PRO 550w Overclocking Result: 2000mhz CL8-10-8-28 Memtest > 200% stable, Vdimm: 1.632v Everest Memory Result: Mixed 8GB (4x2GB) Result: 2x2GB KVR DDR31333 CL9 + 2x2GB Adata XPG 1866+ V2.0[Elpida Hyper] , 2000mhz CL8-10-8-28, Vdimm: 1.632v CPUZ Validation: Final thought: The ram easily done 2000mhz CL8 at reasonable vdimm, which is still lower than what Intel suggested. Even at 8GB configuration, it able to run stably with another pair of higher RAM, which come with elpida hyper chip. There is nothing to complain about the ram for it price, most probably the cheapest ram in the market. For overclocking, it capability even exceed a lot of the higher rated ram in the market. For those that having this type of ram, no harm to try overclock it and see what it can do, it doesn't mean that Value ram must stay at low speed Thank for reading

QUOTE(Silverfire @ Nov 9 2010, 08:16 PM) So your other pair of Elpidas KVR are of same speed at same voltage? Edit: Sorry for not reading properly. So your other pair of A-Data RAMs uses Elpida chips? Can you tell me what Elpidas are they? another pair with elpida hyper.

QUOTE(ah_khoo @ Nov 9 2010, 10:43 PM) very2 impressive oc there bro... gettin value 1333 ram to run @ 2k is awesome... a noob intel question: is i5 oc oso imc bound? i've heard comments like mem oc on intel i platform depends more on imc instead of mem itself. is that true??? i guess most of the imc in lga1156 can do 2k ram easily, unless u want to break the world record then is difference story. so far i have used a few processor, all can do 2k ram easily.

QUOTE(ah_khoo @ Nov 9 2010, 11:54 PM) didn't mean to belittle d capability of ya kvr bro, just wanna confirm what i heard is true since i never got a chance to try i5. mem oc on i5 seems pretty fun, if i have d moolah, i certainly dun mind havin a short spell on d platform. i got a pair of gskill ram which can clock decently on amd platform, wonder what wud be d mileage if i put 'em on i5. haha, if it clock well in amd, should clock well or much better in i5, but i5 7xx have lower uncore multiplier, if want to get more memory bandwidth, i7 8xx is recommended.
