Hi, I'm new to Astro Byond. When I turn on the Byond decoder, it display something like "Firmware update available". But no matter what I pressed, I still can't get it update. I left my decoder overnight but I'm still getting the same message. Can anyone help me? Thanks.
*
Where got firmware update? What is the actual message you saw?

Has anyone noticed that if u reboot the Byond box now, the default channel that will appear first is ch130, the Mustika preview channel instead of TV1 CH101..? anyone notice? i have said it before, it seems like astro's mustika package is lacking subscribers..the promo for that channel appears on almost every other channels..they even have their own preview channel and now they want to extra promo it to us by making it the 1st thing we see when we turn on Byond.. shakehead.gif

*
It could probably that you set ch130 as your favourite channel so that is why everytime you reboot it will go to that channel first.

That was Quadro LNB if i'm not mistaken...
You can feed 4 different decoder using one LNB....
Same concept like Byond PVR, but Byond PVR only use triple output LNB...
*
why Byond PVR use 3 output from LNB? I thought it is only 2 are needed?

2) all my HD channel got permanent msg appear saying 'copy protection failed'. annoying la to watch movie like dis. hehehe. (i tried to browse this thread but too many pages and i ended up nowhere... help....)

3) i'm using sony bravia dunno what model (but very old ones la). i see got hdmi channel. but the astro installer connet the red-white-yellow wires to my previously used 'video1' lobangs. is this correct? i tot astro hd should use hdmi channel...? am i getting a low-quality hd channel like this?

You should change your TV input to HDMI input, not AV input for viewing or disconnect altogether the AV input. Some TV model will disconnect the handshake once you change from HDMI to AV so that is why the 'copy protection failed' msg is appear with video.

1st rule of using computer. When things don't work, pull the plug and do a cold boot. That's what I will do.
*
but computer do not have remote. Try to above suggested first to isolate the problem is either on the remote or decoder itself.

Done that many time before with other satellite decoders. When not functioning properly, PHYSICALLY pull the plug and reboot. After all, these are still gadget running on software just like computer.
*
Do a reboot is always first thing in mind when something is stuck, so I assume Russel has done it before. My suggestion above is for the next steps.

If talking about step to take, this is what I will do:
1. Pull the plug and do a cold boot. And that includes the remote control unit.
2. Check the battery.
3. Call Astro because doing more may void the warranty.
*
From his explanation before, I think the battery should be ok because the red light on the remote is still blinking. Pressing the button on the decoder will not void the warranty.

True enough, what I meant was to thank the specific Astro staff who are helping us here as well as the one calling the people in trouble in this forum. Those Installers who are creating most of the problem here won't definitely get any thank from me. smile.gif

WHAAAA!!!...you asked meh? they said Boss only ar? not Mr. President or Mr. Vice President or something? Hmmm...Maybe I AM the Boss...Sivaji the Boss! or The 80's Mr Os Movie Boss!!
*
My friend in working in astro said they have president=ceo, senior vice president=director, vice president=head, assistant vice president=manager. Maybe lapaq is one of them meh nod.gif

Asstro started this smartcard pairing since they launch byond in Dec 2009 and up till now after 1 year +, I haven't heard hackers able to crack this. Maybe they need to try harder..
