Unfortunately free Astro isn't in the United Nation Declaration of Human Rights together with free Abalone, free Starbucks coffee, free BMW, free petrol, free travels and free everything.
http://www.un.org/en/documents/udhr/index.shtmlOn the other hand, there should be free competition against Astro.
Yeah and I also want Astro to have competition. But, I remember We still have 8 other companies with Pay TV license but Unifi is the only on out there with a business. The rest all only have the guts to do tests and trial because they are afraid to lose the license.
Who in their right mind want to invest RM 300 to 500 mil just to start a Pay TV company when not only they wont have Barclay PL And Akademi fantasia...they have to price it cheaper than Astro. I don't think we will have one unless that company has mountains of money piled up as high as Mount Kinabalu and don't mind losing it in the first few years and will most probably get back the money after 5 hrs or so.

Friend, I think Astro fare is just like those wives we just cannot live without them !!

We hv also to see this way ,those who just take family pack end up paying another RM20 for just for 5 rojak channels, I still feel its unfair there shld not be HD fees.

Added on February 13, 2011, 12:09 pmBy collecting 6% tax they may become the number one service tax contibutor of the govt, competition I doubt it cos everyone with licence only talk big but no ..... to start, UNifi is still hiding in the same spots it started !

Smile guy, kenot la without HD fee. How to pay for the content? All together 12 channels and not a single cent payable to Astro? I don't think Astro is charity company.
Personally, I understand why they want to have that HD fee. They want the family Only people to at least take movies or other pack, that way, they can have additional HD channels. astro in the other hand will have more people taking their Movies and sports and other packages where they will make more money from.
For HD contents, not only they are more expensive (to pay the studios) and take up a lot of bandwidth compared to SD, Astro kenot price them that high because HDTV penetration is not that High yet. So they have to make money using the existing package upgrade.
As for the family only guy, I don't think this is the group Astro is targeting for HD.
