guys..is there any Asean or Asian county for that matter, that provides their customers with original channels instead of of an international or Asian version channel? i mean like MTV..we get MTV Asia right? Is that also the case for movie channels or other channels? Heck..even Disney channel is now so Asian-ised that it is slowly becoming a Malaysian channel kids channel with programmes like Upin Ipin and 'Waktu Rehat' on it..

I know in Malaysia the most obvious reason they give is that they need to censor a lot of original channels thats why we get the Asian or International version..is it the same everywhere else? does any country get original feed from UK or US directly?

Thanks

I think not... smile.gif

So, Astro "limited excuse" was a gimmick? I suppose the remaining transponder is for MPEG4 SD channel feed seperated
from MPEG2 version. Or, it can be use to improve more quality on HD channel... icon_idea.gif

Maybe its not a gimmick, it totally a lie. Astro have a enough capacity to broadcast more channel. sweat.gif

Asian version channels are cheaper built channels to cater for the respective country and they sell each other's productions look at Bio featuring our politicians and History featuring our actor jujst like that Asian crap survives, then some become malaysianised like Disney. These are cheap ! Remember when astro started MTV and V was international we had V India I think, MGM was taken off Hallmark was international,so over the times cheap crap and full control was the best choice for astro. ASN is not astro's choice why ? Channels which singapore booted out still remains astro's choice ! Unifi has some direct channels I think.

If like that, Astro should only 'cover' the censored material with error messages and no need to cut feeds thus enabling closed captioned subtitle for all channels...

Perlawanan EPL dalam 3D
HENRY Tan (kiri) bersama Jeff Lee Wee Leong dan Adam Zecha (kanan) selepas memeterai perjanjian tayangan Liga Perdana England secara 3D di Kuala Lumpur, semalam.

KUALA LUMPUR 16 Nov. - Panasonic Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.

If Astro don't want to use MPEG4 in SD channel now, atleast please upper the bitrate of MPEG2 SD instead (3-4Mbps). smile.gif

They are putting too much effort on sports (main source of income i believe)

For me

1. Launch some quality HD channels.
2. Improve SD pic quality. (Now some SD pic quality are not far away from a VCD quality vmad.gif )

Petition is useless because they are a monopoly.

Yesterday some salesgirl from Astro called me up to promote their Astro On Demand promotion.

I told her it is still expensive after the so-called 50% discount.

I should have yelled at them to improve their existing service before looking for more profits. Real bloodsuckers shakehead.gif

What can I say is: Belum try belum tau...

If we all spread this petition to all over internet maybe Astro should do something. If not, rakyat can demonstrate in the façade of Astro.

Agreed they are money suckers this monopoly would go on until those who hold the licence hv the ..... to launch at least a natiowide cable network, which seems so hard to happen wherein in Spore which is so small has two fantastic service providers. Kick them where it hurts most, the sports pack !
