3D though is a long way off," he said. "If it was my decision, I would not put it in 3D until there were enough televisions and enough consumers out there watching it to warrant the investment and the change. But HD, we all need now."
AStro should read this. this is what I call smart thinking We dont need 3d improve HD and SD, understand ? flex.gif

Hope he not change his mind later and say "HD is also a long way off". sweat.gif

QUOTE(smileguy @ Nov 19 2010, 10:39 AM)
I think he is right,3D has a long way to go for now HD matters. I bought a HD ready TV  way back 2004 at that time we were anticipating HD to be launched by RTM, that tv too is dead  now but RTM is still preparing or purposely gave way . and now only we hv HD and it may take another 5 years  for current users to switch to full HD. Worst still providers charge RM20 for HD services and this is NOT in anyway going to encourage the switch to HD so why talk abt 3D ? We can guess once 3D another RM30 for 3D services ? hmm.gif
*
If astro want to charge for 3D than only a very few people will get it and it not gonna make money for them. Maybe astro just broadcast with free of charge and sponsor by Panasonic. This method can help to boost 3DTV selling on this region as we know curently 3D content was so limited.

I wonder whether people want to wear 3d glasses to watch TV at home.  If a family of ten, the require 10 pair of 3d glasses, average 3d glass RM200 ++.
*
Next year RealD will bringing Full HD Passive 3D and that means consumers will no longer need to shell out $130 to $200 for a pair of active-shutter glasses, but rather use a pair similar to ones offered in theaters that cost just a buck.

*
In 2020 maybe new technology will be reveal. No more 3D excitement like now days. And for HD, maybe it sux at all like watch VCD right now. laugh.gif

Samsung already introduce their UHDTV this year. But still not for market. So it not a 2020 technology anymore.

I notice that certain channels like HBO HD and AXN HD have very loud LFE levels - to the extent that any soft and continuous LFE sources in those channels would be amplified by my subwoofer into an irritating humming sound in certain scenes. I do not encounter this problem with DVDs or BDs. The only way to solve this when watching Astro HD is to lower the LFE volume by 10dB.

Anyone here experience the same thing?
*
I think it not HBO HD and AXN HD only, Nat GEO HD, History HD, ASSP HD also have quiet loud LFE. But I think it normal and not a problem to me. smile.gif

Not many customer subscribe news package, so I think astro will not put this on their priority.
Better lunch other HD channel instead of news in HD.

it is popular but do astro  care? do they care Discovery HD or Star World HD would be  popular choice?
if popular, they would already be adding it in..they dont give a damn whats popular..
most important for them is to make more money..like today they offered me special price for movie package saying they now have 2 HD channels in that package..they're not adding channels coz its popular..they add channels so that they can get more subscribers to the package or to astro itself..
*
Thats why I said that news is not their top priority in HD. Maybe learning package have more subscriber than news package and that a reason astro already put 2 HD channels in that package. But if astro want to put news HD on family package than it better than nothing. smile.gif

I think astro just convert it to MPEG2 for both decoder (Normal & Byond).
