Yes bro, something wrong. Just now, streaming mp3 song also buffering...i cannot take it la. That is ridiculous. i think its the signal issue. I need to find a more strategic place to house the router + modem. The server signal now is only 2 bars...maybe if it is 4 to 5 bar, more throughput ...

WDTV arriving on Wed/ Thurs
Must test with TVersity...TVersity is extremely slow in sharing with laptop...even with a N300 USB TPLink adapter....
I am kinda freaking out !!! Don't wanna feel like i wasted $ !! U know what i mean...sakit la !

But i guess, Gigabit wiring is the way to go la...100% must agree with you !!! That also must take out additional $...

Aaahh...i think i should have patience and wait for wdtv and try and see my self...then decide what to do. I thought it will be a litter more easier...but no smile.gif he he...

Lets bust the Wireless N myth smile.gif haa haa !!!
The LYN Mythbusters smile.gif

You may try to use 1 AP in the middle set it to repeater mode to boost your WiFi signal. I bought TP-Link AP WA-801ND to repeat my neighbor WiFi to my WDTV, so now I can use online features.
I almost buy 3G router to share my internet connection, but after more reading I opted with AP instead.

I would love to, but spent too much already this month. Worse come to worse, may opt for this method. But i think better wired.
Hmmm...tks bro...

Just bought the ethernet over powerline plugs from TP-Link with a rated speed of 200mbps. Now those HD files that could never stream smoothly on my wireless-N previously can stream. biggrin.gif

Wow !!! I am surprised...Awesome sharing bro.
N300 also cannot beat ur 200Mbps Plugs?
Amazing !

Many congratulations to you bro. U must be all rclxm9.gif

A friend's WD player - I've no idea which model - is no longer working properly. The menu pops up but when a file is chosen, nothing happens.. Any idea if 1) it can be fixed, 2) how much it cost to fix it, 3) where can it be fixed, 4) how long it will take to fix it.

Thanks in advance.

Maybe try flashing it with a B-RAD...or WD's own firmware version 1.04xx !

Guys, any of u figured out how to use the keyboard to 'Fast Forward', 'Rewind' etc. ? Many a times, i need to rely on the small remote for certain things...if anyone has a keyb shortcut layout, will be great.

I dun think that is possible lor....browsing web would requires a hell lot more processing power i think. Simple plug in to some specific service is possible...but not full blown browser with all bells and whistles.

Matrix: yes yes ... processing power....as u say ... be happy when everything is working well...anything else is all bonus smile.gif))

Terranova: Bro, don't la like that...wanted to reply to you...but no expertise smile.gif

USB Keyboard shortcuts for WDTV Live! base on firmware version 1.04.17_V. This are my own findings, would encourage others to add on to the list so that it can benefit us all.

While watching movie:
'+' = fast forward - keep pressing to increase the speed up to x16
'-' = rewind - keep pressing to increase the speed up to x16
To resume play while fast forwarding or rewinding press ' Spacebar '
'PgUp' = move the subtitles upwards on screen while watching
'PgDn' = move the subtitles downwards on screen while watching
'->' = increase subtitle speed to ensure proper sync
'<-' = decrease subtitle speed to ensure proper sync
'Spacebar' = Play/Pause button

Works Everywhere:
'Home' = takes you back to the main menu (this works everywhere)
'Esc' = takes you back one step (this works everywhere)

I've yet to figure out buttons for:
Power
Option
Next
Prev
Eject
Search

Bro, remind me again the model and make of your wireless or wired keyboard.
*
Bro I am using Wireless Keyboard and Mouse combo - Logitech MK250.
Its a little big in size, spare one, so just using. Searching for something more compact...any idea? something that works with WDTV well too...

Mouse is not in use, but the keyb works well.
After the new f/w update, even better.
:-)

anybody successfully perform network share (over wifi) using wdtv live and windows 7? really pain in the back to configure. Got 3 HDDs, 1 works, 2 doesnt. All having exactly the same config.

wdlxtv custom firmware supports the same wifi adaptor just like the original wd firmware? any comment appreciated.

Thanks.
*
Rather then sharing HDDs, i think better share folders.
In folder sharing make sure you add user ' Everyone ' to each folder you share and give full access.
If this doesn't work.

Download and configure TVersity on your PC.
It will solve all your streaming issue. A good media server.

Hv fun....

It's a good time to join, because the price has drop a lot.. It got mine for rm310.. not the cheapest, but definitely awayyy cheaper than when it was first available..

I connects usb hard disk, usb wifi and usb keyboard, and usb hub on it.. and since my wireless router is only G speed, but I still  can stream divx (700MB) movies without issue.. and too bad, with this G speed, copying 700MB movies using wifi takes half an hour..

I had a though to install custom firmware, but i'm not clear whether it works with usb keyboard or not.. So, I stick with official firmware because it supports usb keyboard very well..
*
Welcome aboard bro. smile.gif

How do you connect all the 3 usb devices on it? only 2 ports rite? Or are u using powered hubs?
Something to think about. Can powered hubs be used ? Anyone ???

Tq.

I'm using unpowered usb hub. However, the latest firmware doesn't allow 2 disks/thumbdrive to be shared
using a usb hub. Disk/thumbddrive + usb wifi also not allowed. The player will hang.

So, what I did,  the back usb port is connected to usb hub. The hub is connected to keyboard and external usb drive.
The side usb port is connected to usb wifi.

My unpowered usb hub is only rm5.. By the way, from my reading, powered usb hub can be used.

I'm also using official firmware. The b-rad firmware should not have any issues with usb hub (frm what I read).
*
Bro, this is awesome...but i think once u use powered hub, it should allow multiple drives...just a theory.
Thanks for sharing this. I haven't tried using hubs or powered hubs. Well, if i need to add a disk, now I know at least that it works.
I just stream for now.

Tks bro. Good share.
