http://www.dungeons-game.com/QUOTE It's been a long time since evil has been the name of the game. Too often protagonists are hopelessly noble and valiant. There never was enough love shown for the evildoers.
Then came the Dungeon Keeper series from Bullfrog. With stylish graphics and an awesome sense of humor, being bad never felt so good. Unfortunately the studio closed in 2004, leaving little hope for a sequel.
Eleven years after the release of Dungeon Keeper 2, Kalypso Media has announced a return to the genre of RTS with a malevolent twist. Behold a return to evil with Dungeons, scheduled for release Q1 2011.
In Dungeons, the character assumes the role of the foremost of all Dungeon Lords, who spends his time trapping, torturing, and killing any hapless hero that ventures into his domain. After falling victim to a plot hatched by his evil ex-girlfriend, the Dungeon Lord must get revenge and fight his way back to the top of the Dungeon Lord ladder.
The title has the Dungeon Lord working under three rival Dungeon Lords, who aim to make his life as miserable as possible with inane and pointless tasks. With only his beginning army of goblins and his thirst for vengeance, the fallen Dungeon Lord makes his way toward sweet, sweet revenge.
According to the press release, Dungeons will host 20 different campaign levels featuring 10 rival hero classes and 15 "friendly" monster types.
The title will be playable at GamesCom which runs Aug 18-22 in Cologne, Germany. Shitty SS quality coming through. Will post more once better ones are up This post has been edited by bobohead1988: Nov 7 2010, 12:29 AM

It's not exactly like Dungeon Keeper. It's also Hero theme park as you have to build nice things to attract heroes. Kinda like building a disneyland for heroes.

We've been so busy with the site revamp lately that it's not funny. However, we've just managed to take a look at the thread and I've something you guys might want to see . http://beta.dungeons-game.com/Kalypso Media is apparently taking in closed beta requests so if you're lucky, you may be able to test out the game before you try. They have pretty stringent requirements for their beta testers, though; you really do have to help them make the game good. =)

Yup, that's a lot of questions but I guess they just wanna make sure that you're not the type that try this game for an hour or two & throw it aside. I LOL'd at the question: Have you played Dungeon Keeper before?

They're pretty much making something that will be compared to Dungeon Keeper. People will be critical. Er, yeah. XD I think that one was unneeded.

I sincerely hope that it's going to be Dungeon Keeper though.

It is currently stated to be released on 08 February 2011 from Gamespot (US release date). Steam launching date is 10 February 2011: Steam Dungeons QUOTE Steam Exclusive Offer
DUNGEONS - STEAM SPECIAL EDITION includes an exclusive extra mission, all new maps to play in sandbox mode and a variety of unique prestige items to customize your dungeon.
Prestige Items * Statue of Horny from Realmforge's "Ceville" game (adds Dungeon prestige) * Statue of Mr. Sidekick, the loyal advisor of the Dungeon Lord (buffs goblin workers) * Statue of "d*** Caine" (adds Dungeon prestige) Anyone got their grubby hands on it yet? Reading from their forums, Steam version will the extra mission exclusively to Steam buyers while boxed-set special edition will probably have stuff like poster or soundtrack only. I can't see the pricing for this Steam edition though, wondering if it is due to my proxy issues or pricing is just not out yet. GamersGate has it as well: GGate DungeonsTheir pre-order bonus is a free game "Ceville" (something like Monkey Island), at USD39.95. #For those who are interested, Kalypso released the game's theme song for download (sounds not bad, makes me thought of old Dungeon Keeper somehow): Kalypso's Dungeons Thread

Tried it out last night and my advice? Don't get it if you are getting it for the sake of the old Dungeon Keeper. Practically nothing of the original game play (though wall digging is still there and the whole frigging game is actually designed like DK game).
To be fair (and not demeaning), it is quite fun using Deimos to run around and smacking heroes down (you can build up stats and learn skills from three different skill trees). I did find it annoying though, that you as some big ass Dungeon lord and yet you can't control/order your minions to attack a specific hero. You will usually have to chase and kill them yourself (maybe there's more bigger unit to spawn in the later stages though, I am still in the early stages).
Anyway, I guess as how Kalypso said it previously (on the interviews), play it as a different and new game and stop imagining it as a revival of Dungeon Keeper, it will be much more satisfying.

ik3da you more or less summarized lots of reviews I read about the game, not a bad game per se but for a game so inspired from DK it's quite different.
Personally it's more the 40usd price that is stopping me for now, I feel it's a bit pricey for me at the moment for a game that lots are saying gets quite repetitive quickly
Most probably will wait for some sales for that one but high chance I get it once the price is lower

QUOTE(Grif @ Feb 14 2011, 10:05 PM) So, its more of a Overlord kind of gameplay to kill heroes? Apart from the goblin controlling part, yeah, it is very similar to an Overlord game with you controlling the overlord to kill/break stuff. Dungeons does give you more RPG style with the stats/skills build though. Put in a few more hours last night, and I was inspired enough to install back my old Dungeon Keeper 2 instead. The walls digging and rooms keep reminding me that I had so much more fun in DK2 instead of Dungeons. Seriously, save the money and wait for a sale as Gormaz said it.
