Hi guys.

I just went to Freeman Guitar (Edward Hiew) at Kepong earlier today for some setup on my newly acquired Norman B20 (which I bought second hand from an uncle).

Overall, I would say his service was SUPERB!

My main purpose is to lower the action. After analyzing my guitar, he said that the most suitable way to lower the action is to sand of the bottom of the bridge because the neck is already at its best tension, and the saddle is already at standard height.

Hence he proceed with the work, taking off the bridge, sanding it down, replace it back, correcting the intonation, leveling the frets (also re-crown fretwears), etc etc, and after that, the playability was greatly increased! The intonations were also way better than before. And the best part is, he done that all in less than an hour!

If you're wondering how much he charged me for this full setup, I would say it is super cheap! It is not even half of what you will pay for if you were to send your acoustic for full-setup in any big-name store.

He also install a strap button at the neck joint for free. What a guy.

The way he works, you can see that he did all this work for guitars purely on passion, not mainly profit-oriented.

While waiting for my guitar, I also play around with some of the guitar that he custom made himself. One of them is The Jumbo, a full solid acoustic with an extremely slim, fast, and responsive neck! I was very surprised with it's playability and the firm sound projection. I asked him how much is that? He said it is RM1,800. If you tried that guitar, you'll agree with me that RM1,800 is worth every single cents. He said that he priced it cheap because it was his prototype of the model, hence there are flaws, but those are only minor cosmetic flaws. The next batch of the same model, according to him, will be priced between RM3.8k-RM4.5k. From there you'll get the idea of how good this guitar is.

I highly recommend this guy to any of you who need a doctor for his/her acoustic.

The only downside is that his guitar studio is kinda hard to find because he doesn't put up any banner (because he doesn't hav the time to entertain every person who walks-in). You have to rely solely on the address, or ask him thru phone calls as to the directions.

hey guys!
I wanted to change the saddle of a high end guitar to tusq or bone and the pins to bone or etc. I even wanted good suggestion for bones n pins for Yamaha L series guitar. I heard Woh fatt is a luthier. Do you think it is a good place to go n get these replace? are they pro with thr work? plus I am not a huge fan of leaving things at the shop n coming later... so can they do it on the spot taking thr time while I can look at them doing it?

Woh Fatt is a shop, not a luthier.
