Hi, just recently came back from penang, made a really thorough search around the island and finally found a jamming studio in georgetown area. It is behind the old lai lai (the one near the old see hoi chan car center [now bavaria motors] just turn left when u see the old lailai, and then jalan straight for about 200 meters like dat, and u will reach a row of 5 storey shophouses, (quite secluded at night, so girls must go with a macho guy tongue.gif). u will see a small "jamming studio" sign at the staircase. walk up 5 storeys and voila!

the studio's name is FINE TUNE STUDIO

So far didnt find out a lot of the jamming studio, but they use marshall mg 30-50 (not sure, coz i didnt really check the rooms, was fully booked dat time) but there's 2 rooms la. rm20 per hour (double pedal included). dunno the drum sets, but it sounds pretty good. anymore info can call the boss's wife at this number : 0124359657. sound proofing not really good tho, apart from dat, everything is tight! biggrin.gif. apparently from word of mouth, they have the best setup in penang. (sound wise la)

Hope dat helps.

Oh yea, business hours are 7pm to watever time (usually 5am). but do contact early if u wanna jam before 7pm, they can come and open up just for u, charges still same

Just to make an update. firejam studio has moved and changed its name to ATREMIX. I do not have the exact address but the owner still uses the same hp num. But they moved around those area. To whom who knows the place, it's near the 7 Eleven next to it. It is located upstairs of Melati Restaurant(if im not wrong). The entrance is thru the back.

I just came back from a jam session in AkarKarya Uptown Studio 3

Man, I am really disappointed, both of the guitar amps there are not in playable conditions. Suddenly in the middle of a song you will have the "Kill switch" effect from the fender amp and muddy lows from the marshall. No problems with the bass and drums though.

Its our first time in Studio 3, since the usual Studio 2 was booked

My band actually planned to jam for 2hrs but after 1hr we really couldn't take it any more. What a day doh.gif

Any other good jamming studios in PJ area? Other than Akarkarya, Uptown and Black Widow, Jalan Gasing?

Any recommendations? Because we need an alternative if Studio 2 in Akarkarya is fully booked.

The bass amp is fine if I put the EQ settings flat and plug in using my Graphic EQ pedal.

My jam mates always have problems with the Marshall there doh.gif
