Planning to buy Samsung BD-C6900, anyone know whether this player is region free??

No. All BD players are not region free except
Dune Prime and Oppo (with mod).

Blu Ray - Region A only
DVD - Region 3 locked but can be hack to region free.

I have the Samsung BD-C5500. It is stated as region A for BD but so far able to play all sorts of DVD's that I have. As a DVD player it is just like those normal DVD player available locally, i.e. region-free. For BD, it seems to be region specific but I have not tested with BD other than those of Region A and region free disc. So it could be the same for the BD-C6900.

for DVDs play-back, its already a open secret that all DVD regardless of countries are already open to all. Fpr Bluray player, has not come across any free region yet. Someone told me Samsung 6600 are free region...

Rgn free dvdp are diffrnt than rgn free bdp..

On dvdp sold here it was all auto detect - means u put in d disc n itll play..

On my oppo bdp which plays all 3 rgn bds.. u nid to set it to d same rgn as ur disc - only then will it play.. its not auto..
