I have harman kardon AVR 130, sometimes i play music and the bass like not solid like bop bop bop, sometime it become very solid bass and it will vibrate whole house.
Playing DVD moveis like bad boys 2 has no problems always solid sound and bass.. playing music was like cheap sound system =(

Probably the setting is different for both sources..or

For action movies, the soundtrack is always exciting with very deep bass effects...multiple speakers and boom2 pow.

Music is different...it more of a pure thing...thats why some ppl can live with a pair of very good bookself speakers, CD and intergrated Amp.
But if you wish, check whether you amp has Dolby Pro logic II for music.

Some music lovers have two systems..one for music, another one for bom2 pow movies..haha

But if you insist on exciting bass for music, I suggest you go for those PA systems 18inch bass that will bring down the house.

Just sometime or always happen?

Playing the same file, does the quality differ each time or the difference is by comparing 2 different sources? if the latter, its likely the audio setting encoded into the 2 different source are different.
