well, 4 is no more, but they will push everything into 3 instead, so in the end, N8 will have all the features

@-sLay-: i think it's just not locked yet...how long have you waited? you might wanna try waiting longer if you have just waited for less then 3 minutes, i suggest u to wait longer, last i checked my N8 took more then that to lock, without A-GPS of coz...Garmin is like that geh, as long as you are not locked, it will either show one bar or none at all...try again and see how...

Probably a stupid question but do you have an active data plan?

For A-GPS you will need a data plan. Otherwise it can take like forever to lock if you are in the middle of the city with high rise buildings around you or it's a cloudy day.

It uses 3G/GPRS to send/receive the data from the GPS positioning servers. If you happen to be one of those that does not have a data plan then A-GPS will not work.

"Standalone" or "Autonomous" GPS operation use radio signals from satellites alone. A-GPS additionally uses network resources to locate and utilize the satellites faster as well as better in poor signal conditions. In very poor signal conditions, for example in a city, these signals may suffer multipath propagation where signals bounce off buildings, or be weakened by passing through atmospheric conditions, walls or tree cover. When first turned on in these conditions, some standalone GPS navigation devices may not be able to work out a position due to the fragmentary signal, rendering them unable to function until a clear signal can be received continuously for up to 12.5 minutes (the time needed to download the GPS almanac and ephemeris).[2]

An Assisted GPS system can address these problems by using data available from a network.

does it mean those people with unlimited data plan still have to pay the extra 10cent/lock for this SMS short data on top of the data plan they already paid for?

lol~chill la  lemme try off 3G and use ovi maps when i finish work..see whether it works and i'll let you all know owkie  i'll take out my sim card and test

this is misleading, whether it's unlimited data plan or pay-as-you-use data, it is still data plan and A-GPS use it in order to get the position
