QUOTE(jananan @ Nov 12 2010, 09:40 PM) " The OTG cable has a micro-A plug on one side, and a micro-B plug on the other (it cannot have two plugs of the same type). OTG adds a fifth pin to the standard USB connector, called the ID-pin; the micro-A plug has the ID pin grounded, while the ID in the micro-B plug is floating. The device that has a micro-A plugged in becomes an OTG A-device, and the one that has micro-B plugged becomes a B-device. The type of the plug inserted is detected by the state of the pin ID . " - Wikipedia The whole idea is use the nice MicroUSB to female usb rather than using a female to female adapter.... so if file it to size wonder it will work.. but then again.. i notice in our microUSB only got 4 connectors... so it doesnt have the 5th connector unless i am wrong...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB_On-The-Go Added on November 12, 2010, 9:40 pmUSB OTG - limited to storage only ?? or more ? USB host - has more potential, storage and peripherals. Added on November 12, 2010, 9:47 pm" USB On-The-Go The USB port on the tablets is a USB OTG, this means that they can be switched between client- (where you plug the tablet into a computer—for flashing and mounting cards on the computer), and host- (where the tablet acts like a computer) mode with the correct hardware adaptor. You can find a USB OTG adapter designed specifically for the N800 and the N810 (N810 owners will need to buy both adaptors until a custom N810 adaptor is manufactured). These OTG adaptors will automatically switch the tablet into host-mode when plugged in. You can also buy a "dumb" adapter that will provide the correct connections, but will not automatically switch the tablet into host-mode from most online and some in-store retailers. Then you can simply switch into host-mode manually. " in N800/N810 switching modes manually. echo host > /sys/devices/platform/musb_hdrc/mode echo otg > /sys/devices/platform/musb_hdrc/mode - so the conclusion is, the funny looking microAB connector just facilitates auto switching from client mode to otg when connected. - using normal cable you have to switch manually to OTG mode taken from - http://wiki.maemo.org/USB_host_mode Added on November 12, 2010, 11:13 pmhmmm i checked... got 5 wor.. so which means is still usable...... just have to cut to size... if you can wait.. droid x also have OTG... so may be able to use it... i believe its the same size... not squre...
