Hi there, i've been using it since September i think. First of all, this laptop is pretty good. so far i don't have any major problem with it.

for the cons..eventhough it uses LED for their monitor, i don't find it outstanding comparing to other brand monitor such as Alienware, i haven't try the Asus so i wont comment on it. But still it's acceptable.

The very first thing that will amaze you is definitely the design AND definitely the speakers. It will blow you out of this world for a laptop speaker! . Some minor problem is it does not come with backlit keyboard..


The upgraded thermal compound is VERY worth it. Anyway, i though GX640 no longer available?

anyway, for the autocad..i use my gx660r it's better than my PC when im doing rendering. My pc is using i5 750 and hd5850 with 4gb ram..comparing to my laptop with i7 740qm, hd5870m and 6gb ram

as for shipping..it's around 7~15days

Hi all, sorry for being away for so long, before i begin, special thanks to MSI-MY for helping out a lot in this thread ..really helpful info there since a lot of people are worry bout getting MSI gaming laptop due to warranty but since it can be handled here then shouldn't be a problem.

My GX660r Playing SC2 at all max without cooler get me around 80+ degree.

the IC Diamond Paste sure works like wonder. The bottom part do get hot but keyboard area still ok. Not that hot to touch.

you can PM MSI-MY and check if they will help u with warranty if got problem with SB

just so you know, applying this will NOT void our warranty! ..cause there is no sticker or label that tells u your warranty will be void if torn. Cause it's normal in gaming laptop, certain people would wanna upgrade hard disk or apply new thermal paste as we know gaming laptop tend to be heaty.

regarding gx740..im unsure..but i saw it once during PC Fair..tat time the price is somewhere around 4k i think..you can probably check it out during PC-Fair or please find MSI-MY in this forum..he is here in this thread..ask him and he will be able to assist u

@razorboy: Well, you can opt for other thermal paste..i do remember some1 i this forum selling the IC Diamond thermal paste and he does provide service to help u apply it ..try using the search

nah..technology is like tat..we can never catch up with it..right now u get the latest gt680 with gtx460m and so on..but hu noes in the near future 3 -4 months later..they release gt690 with maybe i9 + hd6000 series mobile gc that pawns the gt680 even more?

so my advice is, enjoy what you have..don't set ur mind in chasing it too much

well as u were saying..presentation..some presentation may require audio and video..this is where the MSI becomes really handy with their superb Dynaudio speakers! haha

Though i do have to agree that M15x feels a lil more solid than the MSI but im still satisfied with what i have..and btw, the m15x is not considered chiclet keyboard..regarding weight..as we said earlier, it's true that the m15x is a lot heavier..as it's original purpose is to work as a desktop replacement

MSI do have their bling as well..the orange lightning ..i like to put it at breathing mode..jz love tose effect..but now i set my laptop to not run the msi led manager when i start up..cause kinda waste memory

and there's a few thing im quite confused with the laptop design somehow

for example, they shud have place the caps lock indicator, the num lock indicator..

at the touch pad area..i seriously dn get the idea why they want to place a moon logo there..*im no tsure what it is bt whenever my laptp is on..the light wil be on..and the touchpad have this 3 lights..i would like it to light up when my touch pad is in use..not when i disable it ..takes away the bling bling effect when we turn on their led

lastly, all MSI user, can u tell me..there's this "Windows Key" in between the turbo fan and Power on button..wat issit used for? O_O

oh yeah, im goin to order 3x anti glare screen protector..1 for myself..2 more..who wan pls pm me! ..price i dn tink will be attractive..but i can guarantee it's high quality

anyway, regarding the weight..well try n get urself a comfortable bag..i'm using crumper laptop messenger bag and i find it really comfy brnging it around with me ..or u can opt for a good backpack..bags with those padding for u to rest u shoulder on can really help you avoid the "painful" feeling carrying a laptop around

@huyified: ouch..previously i use my adidas messenger bag and has no padding..really uncomfortable..
