How long have you guys been using MSI gaming laptop?

I am planning to buy one too, but no confident since I have no friends using it for my reference.

Can you please tell me what are the cons of this laptop?

If I can accept the cons, I will accept it ^^
*
Hi there, i've been using it since September i think. First of all, this laptop is pretty good. so far i don't have any major problem with it.

for the cons..eventhough it uses LED for their monitor, i don't find it outstanding comparing to other brand monitor such as Alienware, i haven't try the Asus so i wont comment on it. But still it's acceptable.

The very first thing that will amaze you is definitely the design AND definitely the speakers. It will blow you out of this world for a laptop speaker! biggrin.gif. Some minor problem is it does not come with backlit keyboard..

QUOTE(Trance4eva @ Jan 14 2011, 07:47 PM)
hey anybody here bought from Xoticpc or Gentechpc before??? how long does it take to arrive to Malaysia cause i need a laptop before Friday

Planning to get the GX640 with the upgraded thermal compound. Is it good for design btw like for using Autocad 3dMax Acrobat etc???

And how much is the delivery fees???
*
The upgraded thermal compound is VERY worth it. Anyway, i though GX640 no longer available?

anyway, for the autocad..i use my gx660r it's better than my PC when im doing rendering. My pc is using i5 750 and hd5850 with 4gb ram..comparing to my laptop with i7 740qm, hd5870m and 6gb ram

as for shipping..it's around 7~15days

Hi all, sorry for being away for so long, before i begin, special thanks to MSI-MY for helping out a lot in this thread tongue.gif..really helpful info there since a lot of people are worry bout getting MSI gaming laptop due to warranty but since it can be handled here then shouldn't be a problem.

Anyway, MSI-MY it's ok to post the price here, if u want me to update it over at the main thread do PM me with details and price and where to get it stuff like that and i will handle it tongue.gif

And Huyified, Daym! you really order! welcome to the crew!:P i will update your name later. Now I'm tempted to sell mine to replace it with the GT680R. Much more hawt specs. :drools:

Added on February 8, 2011, 6:07 pmAnd also thanks to sanko in promoting here tongue.gif..do promote as much as you want to lure more people into MSI gaming world tongue.gif

@razorboy:

just so you know, applying this will NOT void our warranty! tongue.gif..cause there is no sticker or label that tells u your warranty will be void if torn. Cause it's normal in gaming laptop, certain people would wanna upgrade hard disk or apply new thermal paste as we know gaming laptop tend to be heaty.

nah..technology is like tat..we can never catch up with it..right now u get the latest gt680 with gtx460m and so on..but hu noes in the near future 3 -4 months later..they release gt690 with maybe i9 + hd6000 series mobile gc that pawns the gt680 even more?

so my advice is, enjoy what you have..don't set ur mind in chasing it too much tongue.gif

anyway, i manage to snap some comparison picture between the m15x and our laptop tongue.gif..sorry for the messy background..din have a proper background to snap with + im on a rush tat day tongue.gif

I agree with huyified..too bad..there's another contender right around the corner which is the Asus g53..i will do a full review on all 3 of em once i get my hands on them

well as u were saying..presentation..some presentation may require audio and video..this is where the MSI becomes really handy with their superb Dynaudio speakers! haha

Though i do have to agree that M15x feels a lil more solid than the MSI but im still satisfied with what i have..and btw, the m15x is not considered chiclet keyboard..regarding weight..as we said earlier, it's true that the m15x is a lot heavier..as it's original purpose is to work as a desktop replacement

MSI do have their bling as well..the orange lightning tongue.gif..i like to put it at breathing mode..jz love tose effect..but now i set my laptop to not run the msi led manager when i start up..cause kinda waste memory

and there's a few thing im quite confused with the laptop design somehow

for example, they shud have place the caps lock indicator, the num lock indicator..

at the touch pad area..i seriously dn get the idea why they want to place a moon logo there..*im no tsure what it is bt whenever my laptp is on..the light wil be on..and the touchpad have this 3 lights..i would like it to light up when my touch pad is in use..not when i disable it sad.gif..takes away the bling bling effect when we turn on their led tongue.gif

lastly, all MSI user, can u tell me..there's this "Windows Key" in between the turbo fan and Power on button..wat issit used for? O_O

oh yeah, im goin to order 3x anti glare screen protector..1 for myself..2 more..who wan pls pm me! biggrin.gif..price i dn tink will be attractive..but i can guarantee it's high quality wink.gif

oh? HAHA i never noe that..thanks for telling me..

GOSH! NOW I NOE WAT IT'S USED FOR ==..hwo noob of me..and i find that REALLY nice! though they cud have xplain themselve more clearly nxt time tongue.gif

anyway, regarding the weight..well try n get urself a comfortable bag..i'm using crumper laptop messenger bag and i find it really comfy brnging it around with me biggrin.gif..or u can opt for a good backpack..bags with those padding for u to rest u shoulder on can really help you avoid the "painful" feeling carrying a laptop around biggrin.gif

@razorboy: HAHA..kinda agree with wat u say..and yea..if u guys dowan sling bag..get backpack..3kg will feel like 1+ kg oni tongue.gif..i remember last time i use the Dell XPS M1730..was travelling and brnging it around with me..i put it inside the Dell XPS bag..i swear to god..whenever the wind blows hard..i almost fall backward..that is the MOST heavy laptop i ever use in my life dry.gif

probably it's 1 year by Courts and the other year by MSI malaysia, you can PM MSI-MY regarding that

and @razorboy: Regarding the GT680..i think should be soon, since they are having their MSI pagent, and it's under GT680..so should be anytime soon..estimate by this month smile.gif..or maybe u can persuade MSI-MY to share with u the news wink.gif AHA
