ya, i guess its my audio cards issue, cant output hd audio

so in ur setup, basically the same as mine, tv to soundbar with ARC, all the audio is decoded by the HTS then
HD audio ok?
*
Yep, same setup.. Devices plugged into TV's HDMI port. Then HTS plugged into the TV's only HDMI-ARC supported port. Setup ARC and CEC between TV and HTS. So basically, what happens is that, all audio sent to the TV from HDMI sources or TV's inbuilt apps (like YouTube & Netflix), gets sent striaght to the HTS which then outputs either PCM for stereo & unsupported formats or HD audio (DTS/DTS-HD MA/DD/DD+, etc) for content with such audio.

Yeah, HTS speakers sound far better than the TV's inbuilt speakers. Mounted properly around the room, you get proper 5.1, etc surround sound. Really can hear say an aircraft move around the room... nod.gif

My PC is connected to my Samsung TV thru HDMI, I believe the output using direct HDMI is better than Samsung Smart View app right? The only drawback is my PC can only output 1080p instead of 4K, I have some movies are in 4K so when I play in my PC it will downscale to 1080p to my TV.
*
Directly connecting the PC to the TV is indeed better as the PC does the grunt of the work processing the movie file, leaving the TV to simply handle video mostly. With a decent NAS and healthy network, i believe still able to get good performance cuz NAS systems are designed specifically for such. However, since you are limited by the PC's hardware (cuz AFAIK laptops with HDMI out can only pass until 1440p max, want more? must use DP or like MAC's thunderbolt tech), then it's actually better you copy the files unto a USB drive and plug into the TV.. Get UHD and HD audio that way. Which is what I do as mentioned in earlier post. I don't joke around with A/V. biggrin.gif

ok, got it up and running, was trying ard with the file sharing options, end up too troublesome and no idea ard it, end up downloaded samsung smart view
HECK, works like a breeze so far, maybe some subtitle issues, where its suppose to be in a same folder or what not

got the words light up for HD audio i guess, LPCM 48 i think, audio file was process by the tv and send out as lpcm?

Dunno is it just placebo, did some comparison on kodi processing n samsung smart view, seems sharper on the images on the smart view processing

thanks for the 4k heads up, time to try some of those samples file to see the tv can process the file or not

You are welcome. The Samsung software makes it a breeze, It's essentially doing the same thing that one would have to manually set it up..Just automatically.. It's free, so might as well use it for the ease of use alone..For subs issues, try renaming subs to match the file name exactly and place in the same folder. On mine, it won't display subs if they aren't named exactly and in the same folder.
Depending on your Kodi settings, there can be slight differences between it and the TV's in-built player. Have to be aware that Kodi's output can be tweaked and is dependent on the hardware it's run on. Take Android boxes for example, all aren't equal cuz on some devices, they suffer darker than normal content playback.. This is off topic and I'll stop there.

As for LPCM vs PCM.. here's a quote from the PCM Wiki page..In some manner, they aren't so different.. It's mainly which term the manufacturer decides to label it on the sound device. Mine is a 2014 set and reports as PCM. Perhaps Samsung decided to go with LPCM on newer models.

QUOTE
Pulse-code modulation (PCM) is a method used to digitally represent sampled analog signals. It is the standard form of digital audio in computers, compact discs, digital telephony and other digital audio applications. In a PCM stream, the amplitude of the analog signal is sampled regularly at uniform intervals, and each sample is quantized to the nearest value within a range of digital steps.
Linear pulse-code modulation (LPCM) is a specific type of PCM where the quantization levels are linearly uniform. This is in contrast to PCM encodings where quantization levels vary as a function of amplitude (as with the A-law algorithm or the μ-law algorithm). Though PCM is a more general term, it is often used to describe data encoded as LPCM.
A PCM stream has two basic properties that determine the stream's fidelity to the original analog signal: the sampling rate, which is the number of times per second that samples are taken; and the bit depth, which determines the number of possible digital values that can be used to represent each sample.

Anyone have this issue with KU6000 where No Signal pop up window not disappearing despite input signal is already there? This glitch happens randomly, usually during cold start.

You're more than a month late, last one to update. Refer to old posts 😉

OTA so slow LOL.

But 1208 has quite a big change on HDR performance, so it's better to update earlier.

And here we are @ 2018, with no Game Mode HDR Fix release.

Thanks Samsung. Slowpoke software development as ever (just like their Galaxy smartphones as well)

The free part is an unrealistic expectation..Besides, your question is like why do people still buy tablets when they already have a smartphone and a PC? Cuz different needs and specs. Most Smart TVs of today are indeed smart and you are supposed to buy them for said smartness. Between Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Vimeo, YouTube, TED Talks, Fandango, Plex, HBO Go, Spotify, Smart IPTV (provide your own m3u & EPG data), DLNA & USB Playback, you should be more than satisfied.. Just have to cough up the money for the premium smartness. Though since you prefer an "all-in-one", then you should have bought those TVs that are Android powered from Xiaomi or Sony. IMO, unless one gets the pretty high-end models, the entry-level ones suffer from certain firmware-related bugs.

There's app (Tizen) to watch stuff but mostly subscription based like IFlix (it's free with Unifi for now), NetFlix, Amazon Prime, etc.

Free wise probably almost none.

ohmy.gif Don't need to unplug and plug back, this will shorten the lifespan of ur cable and HDMI port. Simply just switch off and on the TV will fix the glitch icon_rolleyes.gif

I use HDMI-CEC to wake my TV most of the time so seldom see that glitch (where it says no Signal when it is already connected)

I did saw it a few times before (i think around 2-3 times). Easily fixed by just switching source to TV and back to the HDMI itself.
