QUOTE(Ivan_T @ Aug 14 2017, 06:42 PM) Same for me, Curve is no no..... The curve hype is winding down as there is no tangible benefit from staying at flat or going curve.for 2017 most of manufacturers are not producing Curve TV anymore, there is no curve TV from LG, Sony and Pana, only left Samsung. 2017 major flagships are mostly flat screens again which is the sign of things to come |

precisely, Curve TV more presentable on TV table NOT mount to the Wall.
Moreover, cables can be seen or exposure between at the back of curve TV and the wall which looks untidy if compare with Non Curve TV |

QUOTE(Haruji Sora @ Aug 14 2017, 02:37 PM) I think the most important thing in HDR is not about the max brightness but more to the difference between contrast (Bright vs dark) Still depends on your own eyes at the end of the day.So for OLED screen, due to the nature of the panel able to turn off individual pixels for pure darkness, they do not require such high nits as peak brightness to output a very good looking HDR. However for VA/IPS panel, due to the black is not truly black, then it has to compensate with > 1000 nits to make HDR look good. And well HDR compliant are still very new market and it still subject to tuning as well as adjustments. I'm still waiting for HDR10+ LOL. (or w/e they call the new spec) I was lucky to be able to test a 65KS9000 vs a 65C6 OLED side by side, both calibrated and in HDR still felt the C6 is too dark and dim for my liking, not as vibrant as KS9000 hence I bought the KS9000 instead. Although its undeniable the black levels are unmatched. Call me crazy but I really didn't like the OLED at the time. The cons of an LED were much more bearable to me than the cons of an OLED at the time of my review, mainly the KS9000 vs the C6. Of course they have rectified some of those cons/issues with the 7 series and it got that little bit brighter but still too dim for me. Crossing fingers the 8 series will be able to output >1000 nits and clear out the kinks completely then I'll ditch my KS9000 into the bedroom and upgrade. |

QUOTE(sigheart @ Aug 14 2017, 09:49 PM) Still depends on your own eyes at the end of the day. The Lg OLED had what you call ABL feature (Automatic Backlight Limiter). Under certain situations the ABL will kick in automatically and dim the screen. A lot of people complained about that feature in earlier models , being too aggresive. This feature maybe has to do with either Preventing Image Retention or maybe to preserve the lifespan of Oled display. Just an uneducated guess so pls don't quote me.I was lucky to be able to test a 65KS9000 vs a 65C6 OLED side by side, both calibrated and in HDR still felt the C6 is too dark and dim for my liking, not as vibrant as KS9000 hence I bought the KS9000 instead. Even HRD10 allow Oled to be less bright to get the certification (around 600 nits brightness compared to Led/Lcd 1000 nits). For later/current Oled models I think LG set the ABL to be less agressive. LOL after removing my HyypTV from my system the HDMI-CEC is all working again (My HT 6750w finally can detect as HDMI Receiver sound output)
But LOL after like a day plus of standby of the player, it decides to unpair all HDMI-CEC again hahahaha. Only can revive the handshake by removing HDMI4 cable. And then I change cable it will revive again, then died again after a few days. I'm beginning to think it's my HT6750W also have problem with CEC handshake just like stupid HyypTV. Maybe it cannot be left standby at all LOL. |
