You mean the N8 right? There is an eyelet for lanyard. Near the battery plug/hole.

When I visit a certain website with some Flash content (i think it's Flash based ad), Opera Mobile keeps popping up a message to ask me to save the SWF file... which is annoying.

Any way to set Opera Mobile to just ignore the Flash instead of asking me to save the Flash file?

Guys , any recommended apps to install?

The free apps that I'm most impressed with are Foursquare, PixelPipe and Nimbuzz.

Are you sure you didn't press any flash ads ? Cuz when im in the default browser , i press a Youtube link below in facebook , it ask me to save and then plays it.

Right from Youtube i guess , but when do they want to use "Save" ? It makes us more confused.
*
Nope, no accidental press. Opera Mobile asks me to save the SWF Flash file every time I open or refresh that site (Livescores.com)

Btw.. the glass on the camera lens is it gorilla glass?
*
It is scratch resistant.

"Scratch resistant glass covers I would say now are pretty well proven and typically stand the test of time in comparison with covers of years gone by. You may have seen/heard about the tumble test that Nokia runs on all devices, it passed this test without any problem." - Damian Dinning

i was about to post this
scratch resistant and scratch proof is not same
i believe n8 is scratch resist, not scratch proof.
*
Yup, I don't know if there such thing as scratch proof glass used on any mobile phone smile.gif

Nokia/Damian Dinning says the lens cover glass is scratch resistant.. and and that's good enough for me.

wont the pic become a lot darker?
*
If you lower the ISO, the brightness should remain same. The camera will still get the SAME exposure... to compensate for the lower ISO, the camera will lower the shutter speed to get the same exposure level.

But lowering the shutter speed means it's easier to get blurry pic if your hand is shaky smile.gif

Anyway, lower the ISO to get better details/less noise, but hold the camera steady (I think it's not a problem though if there is enough ambient light)

tried it b4, but the shutter speed doesn't seem diff a lot
*
It will be different, but yes, maybe not a lot... no need to worry especially in bright outdoors location.. the N8 does not display the shutter speed and ISO number so I woudn't know the exact changes.

Anyway, changing ISO will not affect the picture brightness.

No offense but in low light it does. If u wanna test very simple go to a dark room turn on 1 light

Use setting 1 photo @ low ISO and another @ High ISO compare the difference
*
That is strange, because that's not how a camera should work. The camera will read the lighting and set for the correct exposure no matter what is your setting (unless you change the EV setting)... that's how a normal DSLR works.

Unless if when the light is too low, the N8 can't open the shutter for longer period? Meaning, the N8 shutter speed has a low max limit .. then it will have no choice but lower the exposure level.

Thanks for your testing, but I think this argument is moot... because no one should set a low ISO in dim areas??? Only use low ISO in bright or moderate areas smile.gif .... and please tell me using low ISO in bright areas will not affect the photo brightness... else there is sumthing wrong with N8.

For N900, when use FCam, the slowest shutter speed we can set manually is 1 second; I don't think the auto mode will use this speed at all.
*
1 second?? Well, this explains a lot. My camera can set shutter speed to 30 secs.

Anyway, it's true that the aperture and shutter speed limit can affect the exposure of the camera. We'll just have to play around with the N8 to get used to it's characteristics.

rahuldave,

How? I remember when I tried to log in, the app insist that I must update to login.

Btw, topApps app also updated (yesterday).

Meego 1.2 scheduled for April 2011, dunno when the actual device will be launched... looks like have to stick with N8 for a while yet.

Run some test on the Nokia N8 camera parameter:

1. ISO - 100 (LOW), 400 (MID), 800 (HIGH)
2. Shutter Speed - 1/15 secs (MIN), 1/4973 secs (MAX)
3. Aperture - F2.8 (FIXED)

Thanks. That's good reference for us.

aspire2oo6,

I only use the standard kit lens for the NEX-5 ... enough lor... not really for professional shots, just fooling around with it smile.gif

7fps what does it sacrifice to achieve such speed

"In Speed Priority mode, burst speed is excellent at 7 frames-per-second, though focus and exposure are fixed at the first frame of a burst."

I have not tried this function though biggrin.gif

Is the Nokia N8 that unpredictable and unstable?
*
This is first batch ma biggrin.gif

Anyway, I consider it okay for a first batch. This sudden "restart" happen only once after a couple of weeks.

The social widget will freeze once in a while (even after the updated version). The stock browser will crash sometimes. That's all the problems for me so far after 2 weeks of use .. quite okay la... not serious... just annoying.

PS: I do manually shut down and restart the N8 every morning ... and I'm not a heavy user smile.gif

Pixelpipe is good. I use it to upload pics to FB and Flickr.

After installation, it will run in the background on startup by default. It's up to you whether you want to set it to not run on startup.
