my phone today already auto reboot for more than 15 time already, it all happen after i update it new so call 3Mb patch on application using it software update...it suppose to give extra stability but now it like shit....always reboot and reboot and then display insert sim card...what the heck man....common nokia i pay rm1690 for it...still you give me bug...
Holy heck, 15 times? But I don't see other N8 owners reporting this problem (Disclaimer: I'm not an N8 user... yet).
Bro search google there is a lot of N8 user on the net report same problem as mine..some of them already up to hard reset already but problem still not solve...if I were in us or europe i can replace it for another phone or full refund...i think the main culprit is the new Sosial networking software...it all happen after i update the latest 1.2 version...now i already uninstall that software...so far still waiting for stability...there no way you can get new sosial software from ovi store...but i manage source it from else were but still happen after i reinstall it...now no sosial or facebook for my N8

according from the Nokia forum it something to do with memory management with N8
well, i guess it's bad luck for you then... a lot of ppl here already updated the social network but never encounter issue like yours... the best way to check is to call NCC, give them your IMEI number and they will let you know when is your warranty end.. if it's earlier than your purchase date and *touch wood* you need to claim it, then bring along your receipt.... btw, i've called NCC one week after i got the phone and confirmed that my phone (and my colleague) warranty is till Nov 2012
Bro,
I think I know what is the bug for N8 that cause it to reboot and asking for SIM....it only happen when I force my 3G setting instead of using dual mode auto to GSM only to save my battery (always enable push for my office exchange email)...suck nokia...maybe nokia engineer forgot they have to tested it with GSM only as well....now back to normal no more reboot after reinstall the sosial network..so nokia please fix it ASAP...
Bro I purchase the N8 1 week after the launch date...the nokia salesman at JJ Maluri also blur about the waranty he said normal 1 year..do you think i'm entitle for the 2 year warranty as well...where to call? is it at berjaya? any number? what info to provide for the checking
Anybody want to experiment the N8 if reboot same as mine?
1. turn off wifi 2. force it to attach to GSM only....let it for 5 to 10 minutes in standby mode and check after unlock the screen you get reboot msg

The 2-year warranty applies to Nokia N8 only. The conditions are that the devices were purchased between 8-15 Oct at any of the 4 Nokia Stores (Pavilion, Gardens, Sunway, Lowyat) as well as online through the Nokia website. The other condition is that the RM200 deposit must have been paid.
Wah rugi lor...dunno about that...i bought my N8 before 15 pay also the rm200 deposit but not from that 4 Nokia store...I bought it at Nokia JJ maluri...haiya why like that..extra warranty also must purchase from specific nokia store...suck laa nokia....
My N86 (not N8, but still Symbian) is always set to GSM only. Never restarted. I've never tried setting it to 3G only. Next time I'll try.

Dunno maybe something to do with SIM card as well...i'm also using 5800 force to 2G but never restart....but first Gen N95 8Gb using same SIM unable to connect to internet unless I turn of some features at the N95...like sim setting lock or something....forgot already...very old time ago doing that...
However some folk in US also face same issue like me...
Regarding abgabas's post, can't someone just try to set 3G only in N8 in a low-3G coverage area and test if it reboots after a while?
I'm now enable the power saving mode and it auto roam to edge...so far so good no more reboot after 40 minutes.......better than yesterday when using for to 2G method need to reboot more than 20 times...we will see if it last until tonight without reboot....I dunno if it something to do with extra 16Gb card or after I install all n8 HD game at my N8 which is around 800Mb ++ total i think...hehe so far did'nt have time to play with it accept for angry bird that with so many level on it 300 ++ think...so many man...until forgot how I kill that pig ekeke
possibly the microSD card... had an issue with it earlier, remove and put it back.. been stable so far..
yep i done that procedure as well until dunno which one cause it stable until now....as far as i remember after doing the SD removal it still reboot except when I turn on dual mode radio coverage then it start to stable again
Anyone tried the SPB Mobile Shell Lite? Runs well on my N8!
Yes i have been using it for 2 week on my N8, the only missing is the calendar notification not working with N8, so you will miss the calendar...however u can switch anytime between SPB and Original S3 interface... very flexible...and can exit from sbp also..sometime i set up to 9 home screen (3 ori nokia + 6 sbp) with no lag etc...still waiting for sbp 5.0..hehe using sbp since my Nokia 5800 and it improve alot the UI for Symbian 1.
guys, is it true we have to buy another cable so we can connect N8 to the tv? or did the nokia girl stole my cable?
Just buy normal HDMI cable , last time i bought it for rm15 only for 2 metre long...
BTW anybody tried to export the screen via normal composite cable...according to spec it should work...but when i tried using the normal nokia 5800, it not working...only manage to use with HDMI cable
Any idea for this? Nokia Silicone Cover CC-1005 for Nokia N8
where to buy? How Much?
Got it last 2 week at Jalan Pasar mall....RM15 only...ngam2x fit...but mine don't have that Nokia logo...bought it because want to cover those stupid warranty sticker
