wondering if any mum here still manage to provide breastmilk in long distance, eg: baby in ipoh, but mum working in KL, travel from KL back to Ipoh every weekend.

Is it possible to make it?
I have been breastfeeding (breastfeed and pump out as express milk) to my baby boy for 2 mths. Now that I have to be back to KL after my maternity leave. I hope to provide breast milk to my baby as much as I could.

Could anyone share any experience?

it is possible.

I heard of a case, mummy working in SG, and back every weekend to Melaka just to transport the breastmilk for her baby. What I can say is, it is all depends on mummy's determination, want or don't want. All the best!  smile.gif

But in this case, how they transfer the breast milk in long distance?
Doctor told me to freeze it and travel in ice pack. But is it really still able to keep the freshness of the breast milk?
I heard all in theory, would like to know if anyone really practice this or do this before?

thanks for sharing your wife successful story.  thumbup.gif

me too. dont give up. me too, pump throughout the nite. wake up midnite to pump. no choice, but i know im doing for the sake of my baby. for the first two months, i was really like a moo moo...my job is pump and pump and pump and store.  icon_rolleyes.gif for the first week, i also only able to get around 2oz per pumping session. no worry, as baby at few days old only consume around 1-2oz each feeding session. definitely enough for your baby.

although my MIL got sound me a bit because i occupy her freezer..  tongue.gif  but i just put a deaf ear. and even my relative ask me to stop after two months because im going to work. just put a deaf ear will do.  cool.gif

im staying with my in law and another two nieces just kena HMFD two days ago.  sad.gif my girl yet to kena. im so worry her now although the two nieces have move out in order to avoid transmit to my girl yesterday. but they already played together everyday before both of them kena. i really hope my girl's antibody and immune system is strong now.  sad.gif

oh, almost same like what I was doing and what I plan to do now..I have been pumping my breast milk for my son since 1st mth. Now that my maternity leave is going to end soon and I am thinking a way to provide breast milk to my son. But both my in law seems like don't really support this as they said breast milk unable to keep my baby full and he will cry more frequent requesting for milk. Understand the difficulties since in law are both quite old and formula milk will be more convenient for them. Thus, the only best way if to provide breast milk only when I am back to Ipoh during weekend and public holiday. I will pump and feed my baby by myself, so eliminate all the inconveniences claimed by my in law...

But, still thinking how much the breast milk helps in this way? My baby will only have breast milk during weekend but not everyday. I feel a big waste during weekday when I pump out the milk and just have to pour it away. It suppose to be so precious, but I have to pour it away.. sad.gif cry.gif

+1 for direct feed. Provided the baby is willing. No need to wash and sterilize bottle. And it's as fresh as it gets.

Definitely direct breastfeed is the best. I breastfed for 1st week, after that I pumped out so that my in law can help feeding bb also and I can have more rest. But this is not good because baby is still small and intestine is not yet mature enough, so start many issues like reflux and colic. Colic is really a difficult situation which baby will cry for 2-3hours no matter what matter you use sad.gif until I am really run out of method and jz cried together with my baby...

For breastfeeding, you have to watch out food that you consume. Avoid dairy product and vege..some article said..but I tried everything but my baby still crying untilabout 7-8weeks then stable...

Now my in law complains that my breast milk got problem or baby not suitable for my breastmilk. This is because when my baby started with fm, no more crying. But, I think that it should be his intestine mature enough now, I never heard that breastmilk would be not suitable for own baby..

Still continue to provide breastmilk whenever I am back to my bb. I might continue doing so until Sept, then will re-consider again. Doctor advice breastmilk until 6mths is good, after 6mths is not necessary.
