i know hygiene is important that's y i had towels wif me... 3 in fact... one for baby (spit milk), one for breast (clean breast wif those mini water spray for plants then clean wif towel) n one for myself (sweat, etc)... 2 more days n i'm out of confinement... will drink lots n lots of water... i simply can't understand y no plain water... anyone can enlighten me??

syd, yesterday we watched the video n found another nice video on burping... we decided to use the other coz the baby in the video seems like the same age... n it works! even wif the technique wif the video u attached... today i tried the feed-stop-burp... baby is calmer n sleepy... will monitor n c how it goes... thanks dear~!

I'm not well-versed in Chinese confinement but for the Malays, cannot drink too much water cause it will cause bloating (thus 'perut buncit' = body not attractive), and saggy vagina / swollen feet. Urgh. I dont even know how true the 2nd reasons are....

Hey doesnt matter which technique - as long as your baby's burping and happier, that's good biggrin.gif

When I try to burp my baby.... I end up burping instead !!! What gives ?
Will try the video way.

My wife also suffers from crack nipple when brestfeeding. Medela cream did help a bit. Would anyone know of other traditional or kampung methods in minimizing crack nipple. Wife sufffering like crazee laa.
Thanking you in advance
*
It's a Malay thing. Think about burping tukang urut. tongue.gif

Er no need to buy Medela cream la. So expensive. Any pure Lanolin products will do. Is your baby latching correctly? Your wife can also wear ultrasoft breastpads - I use Lansinoh Ultrasoft.

@shizam
Do watch this video smile.gif

Btw it takes practice from both mommy and baby. Babies may know how to suck but latching properly is difficult for them smile.gif

Now, I am looking for a silent pump to pump breastmilk in the office ladies room. No electrical socket so cannot use electrical pump and I dont want my whole office to know I'm pumping. Any recommendations?

how long it is advisable to stock up the milk bank before the maternity leave runs out? 2 weeks enuf? or in my case 3 weeks enuf? my boy likes to latch on based on his desire no matter how i try to get a good latch on... haizz...

charmingqueen99, mayb u're stress out?
*
My nurse started pumping after 1 week of baby's birth so she had 50 3.5oz packets/bottles ready when she started working sweat.gif

I pumped 3 weeks before working, managed to pump 15 bottles with 5oz each.

Any idea where I can find it within Selangor / KL?
Do you know how much the price?
*
You can find it in a lot of stores - in MV, Curve etc but they tend to sell them at 1.6k and above. You can buy from ebay new for RM1k, shipped directly from US but some people may find that intimidating smile.gif

I bought mine 2nd hand but all the accessories that came in contact with breast milk were replaced. Total less than RM800 including shipping to MY biggrin.gif

QUOTE(nicKit @ Dec 6 2010, 01:19 PM)
syd, u pump 5oz per session or accumulated?

i've bought spectra 3 from fabulous mum n started pumping since yesterday.. got abt 2oz per session but works faster if my boy is latching on... nothing much to celebrate but i feel it's an encouragement smile.gif... yesterday he was fully on breast milk (yay~!) at first i tot he din like formula but yesterday i found out he likes mummy's nipples more than bottle dry.gif i still have few weeks to go n hopefully i can get more milk to start the milk bank... my target is to get 4-5oz per session so i can have pump today drink tomolo kind of supply coz i dun have much fridge space... i've stop fenugreek tea to c how much i can get before consuming it again... bought melilea organic soya powder too but not drinking it yet... wanna test n trial while i can before the leave runs out... wish me luck~! wink.gif
*
Erm last time I used to pump 3oz per session (only one side) and the bottles are 5oz in size (I use BumbleBee PP breastmilk storage bottles) so I mix 2 sessions' milk before freezing. Dont be discouraged by the amount of milk that you're producing - that's really good for someone whom didnt get much stimulation from baby smile.gif

If you dont have much space then try storing in bags like these -> http://www.enjoybreastfeed.com/product_inf...oz-100pcs-p-114

Hope that helps. Gambatte! biggrin.gif

Never hurts to have spare - if somehow you need to be outside home (like go shopping for a while), people who're taking care of baby can reheat the milk instead of going back to formula. Btw if you fall sick, you should still be breastfeeding to build baby's immunity. Unless it's something serious like HIV or medications that will be harmful to baby.

One tip I learnt from experienced pumpers - pump religiously. Think about it like a leaking tyre - you need to pump to keep the tyre fully inflated - once you stop pumping your milk, it will even take longer time to go back to ideal milk flow. And drink lots of water biggrin.gif

I pump 3 times a day when working - around 10:30am, 1:30pm, 4:30pm. At nite baby nurse straight from container tongue.gif But there were times when baby so sleepy so she drinks very little and my boobs felt like gonna explode - so I pump then.

I forgot to remind you about eating doh.gif

Breastfeeding is prolly one of the best time to eat a lot of food and not gain weight since you burn 500-1000kcals a day effortlessly. To put that amount in perspective, I have to run 10k everyday to burn same amount of calories - awesome or what biggrin.gif . But just like any other activities, if you eat more than you burn you'll still get fat tongue.gif

I'll give you a boring answer - more fish, lots of veges n fruits and at least 500ml of fresh milk daily. In addition, take multivitamins, fish oil and vitamin C smile.gif

wat is colic anyway? i really have no clue abt it... is it gassy problem? crying problem? or digestive problem? btw r u FTWM or SAHM? if u r FTWM i really need to double notworthy.gif... looks like my supply stays on 1.5oz... now i'm practicing 3-4 pumps (abt 4.5-5oz) for his nite feed... if i skip the nite feed n give him formula then i can keep the milk when i get back to work... then again, he'll go back to formula at nite... a bit heavy for me... but the package already halfway n we shouldn't waste should we? sad.gif
*
Colic.. gastro intestinal stuff. Cow's milk apparently can leak to breastmilk and baby's digestion system aint matured enough to handle that. Some babies are genetically disposed to be lactose intolerant.

I'm a FTWM smile.gif

double salute to u... notworthy.gif notworthy.gif now will white tongue affect baby's feeding? they say it'll cover the taste buds therefore making it tasteless... is it necessary to clean it? should i get a nipple cream for my nipples? the cream should b harmless to baby rite? my breast are slightly painful like needle pin stuck on it... should i be worrying? y do i worry so much? cry.gif
*
Yes you worry too much tongue.gif

I wouldnt be too concerned about the white tongue. As for the nipple cream, you can use any brand of pure lanolin or papaw ointment (http://www.thebabyloft.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=263) - the later will give you more bang for the buck biggrin.gif All are harmless to baby.

I use disposable breastpads to prevent leaking and having my bra 'sandpaper' my nipples tongue.gif The washable ones dont really work well since I leak a lot! I like Lansinoh brand (http://www.lansinoh.com/products/ultra-soft-disposable-nursing-pads) but v hard to find in Malaysia. I tried Bumble Bee one - ok lah since it's half the price.

4oz is still bettter than before yes? wink.gif Nemind, you'll get there in no time.

Hey I realized something today. I shower together with my daughter since she was born if there was no confinement lady to help give her a bath. I hug her, kiss her, smell her hair. A lot of skin-to-skin contact there. And whenever that happens, I leak. I guess my sayang sayang hormones towards her helped to stimulate production biggrin.gif

Breastmilk production is largely hormonal.

Breast crawling rocks too. In case you missed it - https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=37460028

Hey smile.gif

Im happy for you too rclxms.gif rclxms.gif rclxms.gif . You're doing great. Breastfeeding is hardwork - congratulations on your new haul brows.gif

Regarding cubes, I usually dont suggest moving frozen ebm (expressed b/milk) from one container to another cause that will cause contamination. But I guess you dont have much choice due to storage space issue. If you want to store your milk for less than 2 days (pump today, use tomorrow), you can just put it in the fridge, no need to freeze.

Here's an inspiration for you - http://alinalancontest.blogspot.com/2010/1...ibu-siri-1.html

I have no experience with formula milk poop but my daughter can go 3 days without pooping and flood her diapers with mustard poop afterwards for 2 days sweat.gif I guess it's normal?

For nursing wear, I carry her in a ring sling. And I also found an awesome top - http://www.thebabyloft.com/catalog/product...roducts_id=1007

No nid to cover tummy. Just a shawl or cardigan will do. I'd buy all the colours if I'm not so stingy with money now tongue.gif
