Dear slacker...it takes awhile for milk to come in..the first few drops is called colustrum which is the most nutritious milk.
Some babies takes awhile for them to latch on..and also maybe coz baby was given the bottle, she may be confused liao (nipple confusion) coz drinking from the bottle is easier than from breast as she will have to work a little hard to suckle.
It's all a learning process and it's not like your baby or your wife would just know how to latch on.
My advice, just keep on trying..there will many times that your baby will cry..and can't latch on etc etc..try to persevere.
Baby's stomach is just a size of a pea now, hence the quantity needed is less but more frequently instead..hence some babies feed every hour or two.

It's completely natural for u to feel that way. Even I too had the same thoughts when I gave birth to my son but my cousin and friend totally supported and advised me during the first few weeks. Like ijnek said direct feed if possible.
I hope u and your wife have prepared yourselves mentally and also equipped with some knowledge about bf. It's gonna be a bumpy road ahead. If u need any professional advise, I can PM u a lactation consultant whom I know has helped lots of new moms who breastfeed. Alternatively you can join her network on FB - Breastfeeding advocates network. Her name is Gina Yong.
If u need support in terms of encouragement or from personal experience...we are here for you.

When my son was teething and he did try to use me as his chew toy...I did slap him once, lightly. Then the next time...I resort to telling him firmly no and stop feeding him so that he understands that if he bites, no milk. Even till now, once in a while he would bite but there's usually a glint in his eyes before he does it. It will be a firm no and take my nipple out.

It's his way to explore...just becareful of what he picks up..this is when you have to really keep an eye on him, whenever you can.

My son doesn't really like his toys too..he rather play with the pots and pans..broom..the things that i usually use. I actually hardly buy any toys for him since he hardly plays with them.

I'm gonna start to wean my son...yesterday was my first day..stopping the only pumping session i had. He has finally starting to drink powdered milk (Dutch Lady 123). So...i'll be trying to stop the night feeds first and then slowly cut down the feedings on demand. I hope this slow and steady weaning would not give me any breast engorgements/ pains.
Though..i've never tried giving him other milk when i'm around..you think i should try that first to see if he drinks other source of milk if i give him? I'm worried that he may reject and would prefer my breast (plus the comfort)..sigh..headache headache and a little heart pain.

hahaha...nicKit..thanks for looking at me as a role model. I feel flattered My aim was till 2 years...beyond would be a plus. I shall try to give him other milk when i'm around. The midnight 'dream' feeds is the one i think may be difficult to wean. Lets see how things go..and just do it slowly. I don't want to go cold turkey as I think it woudl traumatise him and me.

it's tiresome for the first 6 months. Your office got any meeting rooms? I used the meeting rooms and if it's occupied..my colleague lend me her storeroom - where she keeps documents. Once my tealady offered me the pantry. So it's good to let everyone know that you are pumping and who knows..someone may offer a place.

Have u tried drinking barley and eating the seeds? This also helped me to increase besides fenugreek and milkmaid tea.

Update on my weaning process: gave my son a bottle (5oz) 0f powdered milk (Dutch Lady 123) just now. He only drank 2oz compared to 5oz that he normally drinks when I'm not around.
He gave me the bottle with the remaining 3oz and said 'nan nan'. I answered this is also milk. Then he answered, 'No'. He then made me sit down so he can suckle from my breast instead.
Looking at this situation...it's gonna be a long process. I don't even want to think about the night feeds...that's definitely gonna be the toughest.

It took me about 6-8 months to get back to pre- preggers weight. Now..nearly 2 years of bf..my weight has reduced a lot.
