I totally agree with this quote.  Which reminds me of my colleague who replied when i ask her if she's going to bf. Her asnwer was..see if baby wants or not? i went like..huh? I told her..of coz baby wants your milk! Then she said dunno if she can if she have enough milk etc etc..well..i guess she's not so determined and chose the easy way out.

Here I have a question to ask on behalf of my friend who is currently breastfeeding exclusively since she gave birth about 2.5 months ago.  She is now very stress as her baby girl only accept direct latch and does not take any bottle feed.  She has tried Breastflow, NUK, Avents nipples.  All the latex or silicon nipples just don’t work.  Night time she still needs to wake and feed her baby every 1-2 hours.  She will be back to work on Sep 26...still got another 2 weeks time.  Worst come to worst she may need to travel back home just to feed her baby during working hours.  Final solution is that she may need to quit her job.

Some advices I got from other forum is to bottle feed the baby (calmer) when the baby is not so hungry.  My friend has tried but not working.  The moment she put in anything other than her nipple she will starts crying. 

Anyone please help!!!!

just to add. not just CL, my mil n her mother also kept on saying on how we should add formula to thicken the bmilk. but we just ignore them on that part

i'd say medela freestyle is the best pump for working moms (as commented by my wife and her bf frens at office), get it if you can afford it . those maclaren stroller can wait hehe j/k

for on-the-go storage, we used coleman 6pack container with 6pack ice pack. usually last 8hr in aircondition office if do not have fridge or 6hr room temp.

I've been breastfeeding for over 2 yrs now..and even though lots have asked me to wean but I'm not ready to let go of the special moments that my son and I have during bf.  Also the benefits he's still receiving from BF.

I realize 1 thing tht using hand u can actually squeeze more cause u know where it is. Or I am dead wrong bout it.

1thing tht I sure bout during this few days are :
WOMEN ARE INCREDIBLE

They are strong enough to take the pain while delivering the baby.
And more respect to those mum tht goto the NICU
DAILY  and long hours in oder to feed their baby knowing tht thy should not move Alot few days after lobored.

Added on November 25, 2011, 10:55 pmFinally !! My baby are being discharged today.

Being in the NICU for 8 says.
Weight born : 1.6kg
3 days under UV for jaundice.

So my wife re-admitted to the wad for more frequent BF.
Miricles do happen...1 day of constant feeding baby turn from 1.63kg to 1.95kg !!!
As nickit says..nothing beats mummy's hug and her boobies.

Even the doctor does not believe it..and weight my son in diffrent weight machine.and ask me to return to the hospital this Sunday to confirm again.

My conclusion : Izzit miracle? I give 20%
Izzit the nurse wrongly see the 1.9 and bcome 1.6 in the first place?
Or In the NICU my baby were not fed fully for 7 days?

But whatever lah. Now my son are back at home safe n sound. Oh boy he had an big appetite !!

Mine is girl..she drink max 2.5 oz, now 1 oz but more frequent...morning my wife bf her direct..at night, I pity the CL cannot sleep, allow to give formula...I think got mixture of bf and formula is good too...

Formula milk will not hungry fast and can sleep longer. Even after 6 months, BM itself is not sufficent nutrient for baby if I not mistaken and need formula milk.

Take a look at these. I love showing this link and video. Just watch how beautifully active breast milk is. What you are feeding to your baby is most definitely SUFFICIENT and probably more than expected. Formula milk has the least nutrients and it is so processed you have no idea what else is contained in it to make your child 'smarter'.

Can you imagine if our ancestors gave up on breastfeeding their children? You think human race would survive back then? Heh..

It is proven and experienced by us mothers so why would you even think of giving formula milk? Your baby would never starve with an ample supply of breast milk. Just keep on nursing

Gary, y in the world would u think it's better for ur baby to sleep longer? hmmm how abt i overfeed ur stomach wif lots of food how would u feel? u'll get a very big stomach then u'll need eno rite? would u like that? so y would u do that to a poor baby? before u think it's good to mix fm just to make baby sleep longer, u might wanna zoom out n think wat would happen if ur baby WAS you... bm has all the nutrients that a HUMAN BABY needs... fm is made from COW n unless u think a COW's milk is more better than a HUMAN milk then i have nothing to say... i think we, bf mummies, dun mind being a human "cow" for our babies

My wife is complaining tht baby wakes each half an hour and cry for milk...
I know the importance of BF. but is it fair tht I keep on harping her to BF? because I am not being able to share her load cause she is in kedah and I am in jb...

Baby born in 18 nov 1.6 kg ..weighted last week at 3kg

Syd, mayb nipple confusion/preference?

mommy, how many time u pump breast milk for the first month? Im doing it twice a day, sometimes will let baby to latch on. but the milk production is low, only abt 40-60ml both breast milk sum up, is this normal?

ps: my baby is 13 days old
