Hello there guys! I came across this topic while browsing through LYN. I am surprised I did not know anything about folding protein and in fact, never heard of it.

Please welcome me! Downloaded the software a few minutes ago. Still trying to understand what I am actually contributing to.. :/

u are actually unfolding proteins of multiple diseases like Alzheimer, cancer, etc etc, besides that, it is fun to compete points with other people

So basically the software uses my CPU & GPU to simulate the protein's behavior and sends an analysis to the researcher? Correct me if I am wrong~ tongue.gif

something like that, yep, but u can use only CPU to fold and leave GPU not folding also, my score is only CPU folding.. i5 2500k OC 4.5G

I see. I get it now, thanks! One more thing. In the software there are 2 list of 'processes' written as ready. What are those two? How do I check for my points? As what you said, competing points is the fun part right~ Haha.

points only available after u send in your first WU (work unit - something like handing in your homework), the processes - if not mistaken, one is for GPU fold, one is CPU, it will download your WU for you to fold, let it finish the DL and it will start folding

how many hours of folding is recommended for a ps3 system without it getting overheating issues later on?

in normal room temp without aircond.

not sure.. but for pc it's continuous folding, mine takes out 10-16 hours daily
