Ah. This does answer why I don't see any of my own contributions even when completing one work unit at the page. Now I see it after getting Fahmon. Thanks

In that case, have you already tried re-installing the whole thing?

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits myself too, and I had no problems using it for the first time.
Have you tried deleting any traces of the Fahmon files ( manually deleting files that aren't deleted through the Control Panel's uninstaller ) before initiating an re-install again? |

QUOTE(wildwestgoh @ Oct 29 2010, 10:30 PM) Wow, it really stress my graphic card, max 54C, pretty good cooling from my chassis fan, it really does make a different. You will need FAHMON to have your stats published, if I'm not mistaken. That's how I found mine, after getting Fahmon Haven tried the CPU one since I'm using my CPU more. Anyway how do I obtain the passkey, just in case I need it, not really urgent. Btw I'm using Windows 7 64-bit, not so stable for the first time, I think need to restart the PC then run the program, or should one of the movie player affected it? Opening the viewer crashed when running Zoom Player 7, after closed the Zoom Player and open the viewer again have no issue. Will continue to fold when I have the resource to do so. Oh yeah, had anyone accessed their user page yet? Why mine is empty 0.0;; hoho~ Ima afraid if all of a sudden it succumbs to the load and dies @karthyhu You do not need FAHmon to have Folding@home running, I believe without it you won't get your scores published though. |

QUOTE(don^don @ Nov 1 2010, 11:11 AM) hmm... been reading folding for quite some time but i never actually bother. but since i open my pc for torrent nearly 24/7, might as well join in the fun and help out. Well... I believe the ATi card can be used to fold now, and yes, perhaps fold on your i7 as well since it's pretty fast so, i got few questions: 1. my home pc specs are below, so should i use the i7 to fold or 5850 to fold? last time i heard there's no support for ATI to fold, is there any now? 2. i'm torrenting, will folding affect my speed? 3. while working, the pc's torrenting at home in my room, and usually i only on a fan. usually i'll open up the window for better air flow, but sometimes no coz my neighbour is doing renovation, kinda dusty. so, if i use 5850 to fold, it's going to be 95% load at all times right? mine's a reference heatsink, will that be sufficient? i scare the card overheat while i'm away, and died or get into some troubles. and burn my pc, and my house As for any overheating issues, either set the GPU maximum load to 70% or lower when away or set the fan speed to at least 70% constant. You won't be there anyway, so you don't have to face any noise. |

You will need to use both of the Folding@Home application.
One would be for the processor, which would be in the link on the first post on the first page. The other one is in the "High End Clients section". |

QUOTE(exhauster @ Sep 7 2011, 11:47 AM) No idea how to persuade my friends to join Folding. It is like playing piano to cow ~.~ Many people tend to think that having their web browser(s) open with multiple tabs and with Windows Live Messenger and et cetera running while playing their games requires a processor like an Intel i7 to handle. Friends claim they buy 2600k is because they multitasking alot, as I see lots are just idling + 40~50% during gaming. They even buy cooler for the cpu cooling and overclock 9 9. As they see my CPU usage with 100% all the time, they complain that will only make their computer hot, reduce multitasking(even I explain the idle process for Folding). Wonder how you persuade friends with the regards of heat, usage. Not sure their cooler is for wat too Well, if they're not keen on helping out, then there's no point in trying to convince them anymore. You might even get them to label you as an annoyance if you keep trying to get them to do something they're not interested in and something that they have no idea of what's it about. Look for some other friends, preferably those who are interested in computers to try persuading them. The friends you talked about above are unfortunately computer illiterate based on what you said. |
