just keep folding,
just keep folding,
just keep folding, folding, folding;
what do we do, we fold..

laugh.gif i joined u guys. using the x86 client (not the GPU one, dunno the proper name for it though..)

tried GPU folding with my gtx460, but seeing the temps going up to 63 degrees, i had to stop.. that's even higher that when i played crysis @ max! kinda scary.

ok, just tried the SMP client on my pc, and i chose 80% cpu utilization.

from what i've read in the site, the SMP is a multi-core client right?

it's kinda weird bcoz out of the 4 cores i have, only core #4 is consistently over 40% usage. the rest is just 12, 15; and the occasional spike of 30-40%..

did i do something wrong in the config, or is it meant to be that way? rclxub.gif

do you use -smp flag?
*

still looks the same to me...

if anything, core #4 is now steadying at 60+ %.

the -smp is entered at the "additional client parameters []" right?

yes, should entered there.

ok, did that..

does yours look like this when running the smp client? i mean, the cpu usage (reconfigured it to use 100%).

user posted image

i remember seeing one folder here in i7 with 4 concurrent clients, while i only have one. i suppose he used multiple clients (different working directory?)

@ diademz: i'm pretty sure i DLed the smp client... the size is less than 1 MB, correct?

i see i missed some steps there..

so what i should do is: create shortcut to desktop → r-click shortcut → at properties, i type in -configonly -smp ?

btw, i'm not starting the client as a service.

my gtx460 is all stock clock.. i don't see any need for me to OC it.. laugh.gif

it's an Asus gtx460 TOP direct cu 1GB version. idles at 39 C, while folding it shoots to around the same temps as yours, 61-63C.

i didn't use the -bigadv flag, so shouldn't that be ok?

QUOTE
The system must have a recent dual core processor or better to run this client with the -smp switch in SMP mode. Four cores or more are strongly recommended.

i think so, the WU before were all ok: temps 61-63, silent operation.

with this WU it jumped man! 66 C OMGWTFBBQ ayam sked... sweat.gif

jokes aside, i'd stick to smp for now..

my 460 is this one:

user posted image

it's not the temps that really worries me, it's the high pitched buzz.. did you experience the buzz when folding the 6811?

EDIT: you're running the same 460 right? may i ask, what PSU are you using now?

@ diademz: thanks for the information up there; appreciate it! rclxms.gif notworthy.gif

my PSU is a Corsair TX650, btw..

if the ASUS guys say it's normal, that clears some air of anxiety.. (a bit..sweat.gif)

in any case, i just found out that pressing the F-keys with the viewer can yield rather interesting results... for example:

simple bro,
coz he uses ati client and ati gpu laugh.gif
*
nooo... brows.gif imma using gtx460 bro..

so if u fold using gpu client ( ver. systray) open the viewer → press F5 → ????? → PROFIT!! (the nvidia logo turns to ati)

try to spam the f-keys, see what u got.. rclxms.gif

EDIT: F3 to F6 changes the viewer screen from nvidia to ati, the difference being the way the protein molecules are displayed. try it out.. laugh.gif

But what I heard from others is, better don't open the viewer when u folding.
it will slow down the folding speed if i did not heard wrong. haha
*
open once in a while no problem i guess... tongue.gif just to see detailed progress, spin the molecules around, spam the f-keys.. laugh.gif
