@ diademz: i'm pretty sure i DLed the smp client... the size is less than 1 MB, correct? i see i missed some steps there.. so what i should do is: create shortcut to desktop → r-click shortcut → at properties, i type in -configonly -smp ? btw, i'm not starting the client as a service. my gtx460 is all stock clock.. i don't see any need for me to OC it.. it's an Asus gtx460 TOP direct cu 1GB version. idles at 39 C, while folding it shoots to around the same temps as yours, 61-63C.

Assuming you've downloaded the SMP client into e.g. C:\folding, open Command Prompt and navigate into this directory then type "fah.exe -configonly -smp" - 1st time configuration. If you don't run it as as as service, just ensure the shortcut has "-smp" and the "Start In" folder is pointing to C:\folding Nice! That's the same card I got. I undervolted it to 1V and it's stable 24/7. You may want to try that to get cooler temps too (and less electricity bill!)

so here's what i did: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « set the -smp flag i suppose the line "work type b4 not eligible for variable processors" mean i've successfully activated SMP? CPU usage and temps GPU is steadying at 62-63 C. and this is what i get: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « finally, broke the 2k barrier! CPU usage and temps GPU is steadying at 62-63 C. and this is what i get: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « finally, broke the 2k barrier! Please check this checklist to get bigger WU by using smp- bigadv flag... QUOTE -bigadv checklist
These are the requirements to recieve -bigadv WUs:
1.8 or more physical or logical cores.
2. 0.5 GB of ram per core dedicated to folding
3. You must have the Linux Client 6.29, or the Intel/OSX client, available from the main download page.
4. You must have a passkey
5. You must select big WUs in config
6. Advanced Methods must be turned off in advanced configuration
7. The proper start string is -bigadv -smp X -verbosity 9 (order doesn't matter) either in extra paramaters of advanced configuration or in the start string. X = number of FAH processes to run. You can set this number to number of cpu cores - 1, to allow cpu cycles for multiple GPU clients.
8. If you're running in a VMware Player 3.0.0 VM: you MUST edit the VMware Configuration File (.vmx) and change numvcpus from "4" to "8" and add priority.ungrabbed="idle"; You need 4300 MB of ram to run a full unix distro, 4200 MB for a light distro
9. Successfully complete 10 a2 or a3 WUs within the preferred deadline with your passkey to be eligible for the bonus. If you've folded the requisite qualifying WUs on any machine with your passkey, the -bigadv bonus will be awarded on your first -bigadv WU. If you have never used a passkey, fold 10 normal a2 or a3 WUs, after adding the passkey, before adding the -bigadv flag.
On the off chance that a long ago fixed problem has reentered the scene with this client, I suggest you enter an amount of memory to report to the assignment server during config. This isn't necessary if your client.cfg shows a memory amount.
taken from overclockers.com The checklist number 1. seem give problem to you, if not mistaken you fold with i5 760 which only have 4 core and 4 thread only that not meet the requirment.. This post has been edited by hackcremo: Nov 13 2010, 12:37 AM

i didn't use the -bigadv flag, so shouldn't that be ok? QUOTE The system must have a recent dual core processor or better to run this client with the -smp switch in SMP mode. Four cores or more are strongly recommended.

Finally, all cores engaged! i think the previous task weren't compatible with smp, now i understand what "work type b4 not eligible for variable processors" means..

You will need to use both of the Folding@Home application. One would be for the processor, which would be in the link on the first post on the first page.
The other one is in the "High End Clients section".

actually is cpu+gpu for 1 protein. if using 2 program, wouldnt it become folding 2 protein?

QUOTE(yshiuan @ Nov 14 2010, 12:06 AM) actually is cpu+gpu for 1 protein. if using 2 program, wouldnt it become folding 2 protein? i think not like this. 1 cpu client for 1 protein. 1 gpu cleint for another protein. cpu and gpu didn't work together to fold 1 protein.
