Added on November 12, 2010, 9:45 amKUALA LUMPUR: CIMB Equities Research is maintaining its Trading Buy call on the Malaysian PLANTATION [] sector due to its bullish view for the crude palm oil (CPO) price prospects in the near term.

It said on Thursday, Nov 11 it favoured Kuala Lumpur Kepong for its strong fresh fruit bunches (FFB) output growth prospects and exposure to rubber prices.

“We also like Sime Darby for the potential improvement in the subpar yields from its existing estates as well as the potential sale of assets due to the group’s ongoing restructuring following the appointment of a new acting CEO,” it said.

CIMB Research said Hap Seng Plantations remains a Trading Buy for its cheap valuations and strong dividend yields.

However, it remained Neutral on IOI Corp due to its slower FFB output growth prospects stemming from its ageing estates.

As for Genting Plantations which had outperformed its peers, it believed the market has priced in the favourable CPO price prospects.

“Given the stronger-than-expected surge in CPO prices, we are likely to upgrade our target prices for all the Malaysian planters when they release their results,” it said.

The average P/BV for previous M&A transactions involving stockbrokers/investment banks is only 1.2x. However, the
acquirees in the past transactions were mostly smallish players and the pricing paid may not be reflective of OSK’s valuation. Assuming a 50% premium over the average, the P/BV paid OSK could be 1.87x, valuing the company at RM2.61bn or
RM2.78/share. At the current price of RM1.97, the stock is trading at 1.3x its end-Jun 10 BV/share of RM1.49. Do not expect a bargain.

Their 1 sen divvi has confirmed, but their special divvi not yet. That would be another 4 sen or a chance to buy cosway loan shares in a very yummy discount (much much better than if option for the 4 sen cash divvi).

bjcorp is somehow highly undervalue. However, that's a reason for this. Simply said, VT is a fox.
