2 weeks ago me & my friend went Low Yatt Plaza in KL to buy USB stick and browse for HP netbook for my boyfriend for his upcoming birthday. We went to this cool modern looking shop with lots netbooks.
Anyway after 10-15 minutes of browsing I got my eyes on this HP netbook, very nice specs and decent battery life. But When I asked the salesman to see inside the netbook, you know to see all the pre installed programs and functions he said no.And then rudely replied " Miss we already display the netbook specs here what more do you want to see inside?"
I explained to him I just want to see preinstalled programs like what kind of trial version anti virus are in this netbook and are they include trial Microsoft Office since it didn't say anything on the display screen except for the specs. The salesman still refused saying he can only unlock it if I confirm & decide to buy it. I was puzzled hearing that quickly left without saying anything.Still I remember he rolled his eyes when we left.I don't understand.Isn't it our right to check a laptop/netbook functions and test everything before we decide to buy them?
One of my colleague bought this so-called new laptop from last PC Fair, saying Avira anti virus cannot be run. When I checked it says you cannot run 2 antivirus at same time. Finally I found from System restore recorded that the trial version Norton Anti virus inside the laptop already been removed(not fully) 2 days before the PC Fair and they installed Avira antivirus 1 day before PC Fair. Meaning they already "kacau" inside laptop and then put it back in the box claiming it's factory new laptop.God knows what other things they did before selling it as new one.
My colleague isn't computer savvy and I wasn't there when she bought the faulty laptop. Then at Low Yatt I met this stupid store who didn't want me to check all inside the netbook, not until I CONFIRM to buy and give them my credit card? What kind of business is this?
So my question is,when buying laptop/netbook is there any way to ask them to remove the display page (that shows computer specs&price only) to see the full functions inside? Many stores this days already have this kind of display on their laptop but if most of them they refuse what should I do? it's our right as customer to check and test everything on eletronic stuff before buying it correct? Any thoughts? really appreciate your advice on this matter. Thanks
