Any questions, reviews and articles related to Archos, please let me know and I will put up here as much as I can, to make it a good resources for Archos fans and users out there.


For those Archos users out there, goodies are mentioned below :

To access Google Android Marketplace for 2.2.
1. Go to : http://rapidshare.com/files/434229115/gApps4Archos2.apk and download gApps4Archos2.apk
2. Install and follow instruction.
3. Reboot.
4. Search for Image of "Market" in Slider Menu on the right hand side. Click on it.
5. Follow instruction. Key in your gmail usename and id, wait for it to sign in.
6. Then enter into the "Market" again, click the apps and you will have the full marketplace for 2.2.
7. Go to all apps, you will see Flash 10.1 ( download this and install, you will access Youtube directly from website )

Plus : you can now view Youtube video via application installed when you install the gApps4Archos. Most of the videos are in HD version....simply awesome.

To view Youtube videos and download direct to your Archos.
1. Go to Archos' own library : Appslib. Search under multimedia or general search for Videobox.
2. Download and then sign up on the spot. It's free.
3. You can view whatever is being displayed (updated regularly) OR on the top right hand side of the screen, use the Search button and key in your desired videos. Say, example : movie trailers....it will search for all the movie trailers.
4. Watch the video or Download by clicking on the right hand side of the video ( a small dash )..you will be able to download straight to your Archos.
5. After complete download, go and check out at your Video folder..you will see your downloaded video there..

Procedures for Bluetooth Tethering with 3G phone to connect Archos to internet
====================================================
( I'm using Samsung Omnia 2 to tether ). Note : different phone, the "Internet Sharing" application might be different ).

1. In your Archos, go to Settings.
2. Go to Wireless & Network Settings.
3. Turn your WIFI off.
4. Turn on your Bluetooth.
5. Now, turn on your Bluetooth on your mobile phone.
6. In your Archos tablet, under Bluetooth Settings, click ON " Discoverable", then scan for devices.
7. Then pair your Archos 70/101 to your mobile phone "device name" for Bluetooth connection.
8. In Archos, go back to Wireless & Network Settings, go to Cell Phone Tethering, click ON "Prevent Your Device From
Sleeping", you will see Profiles ( your device's name (PAN) ). - must be on.
9. In your mobile phone, go and find "Internet Sharing" application icon, click the icon.
10. In your mobile phone, you will see "PC Connection" - choose Bluetooth PAN. Below this, you will see Network Connection ( Celcom 3G Internet ) or Maxis 3G or Digi 3G. Choose your 3G provider.
11. Press connect. Now your mobile phone will connect to internet via 3G.
12. Once it is connected, go to Archos under Wireless & Network Settings, look for "Cell Phone Tethering" and click Tether.
13. Now your Archos is connected to Internet using your 3G mobile phone Bluetooth.
14. Now you are ready for action.
15. final step : go to Archos main screen and click on Browser. TADAA !! You are connected.

Enjoy the freedom of using Bluetooth Tethering to connect to Internet via 3G phone.

Enjoy watching Youtube with Flash 10.1 in all Archos Generation 8 models.

Try Dolphin Browser HD
================
1. In the Archos Appslib, search for Dolphin Browser HD and download it.
2. In this browser, it's almost like Google Chrome. Faster page rendering and smoother.
3. When you go to Youtube, you can watch on standard desktop mode or video mode. Click on any of these videos, and you will get to watch the videos in HD. Pretty awesome.

Try it out yourself.

Warranty : The nearest is Singapore. If any problem, I can bring the unit over there or you can also go to Singapore for warranty.

does comes with GPS and voice call?

Oh my....... Archos 70 Internet Tablet 250GB HDD...

Willing to sell off my iPad 3G 32GB for this....

Voice call and video call, I know it's using software like skype, YM, MSN which hv the video function. Since this is not a tablet phone, rather as a full blown tablet pc, to make call, I don't think so.

No bundle with GPS but you can install separately.

this 7 inch unit and a 8 gb Flash will be my personal units when it reaches KL/Selangor.

even though the 250 gb model is slightly heavier and bigger in size, the 250 gb...will hold lots of movies and music videos...ideal for me to take everywhere i go, even during my travel / outdoor.

Yes, bluetooth keyboard can use as these units come with Bluetooth version 2.1.


Price is as stated in my other thread (in my sig below). Warranty : International. Singapore warranted. Therefore, nearest is Singapore for any warranty issue.

Any prob, I will bring the unit back to Spore ...or you can bring the unit to Singapore, yourself.

how about the battery life?
how long can last with full charged?

Fully charged, estimated :

For music/mp3 : upto 36 hours
Video : upto 7 hours
Internet Surfing : 10 hours


These are only an average holding charge before need to recharge. It also depends on how you use the tablet. If you do multiple functions such as internet, video or listening to mps with all applications running at same time, it will drain more power.

If you use one application at any time, it will last longer.

Price include free case and discount (only for those who have made the deposit. Discount will be given upon delivery of the tablet to buyer in KL/Selangor.

Therefore, actual price is much lesser than above.

After launching : 2nd Half November onwards, the discount given will be lesser than pre-launched booking.
