Both D3100 and D5000 does not come with a built in motor. Meaning you cannot auto focus with older AF-D lens. Few examples is the common cheap yet good 50mm f/1.8D. Others like 35mm f/2D, 50mm f/1.4D, 85mm f/1.4D etc. Not to mention you can't AF with the Tokina 11-16 f/2.8.
Then again, new lens now comes with AF-S so those will AF with D3100/D5000. |

Bokeh with a UWA f/4? Heck even the 14-24 f/2.8 don't give you much bokeh at f/2.8. That lens is for wide angle.. not for bokeh :S. You want wide + bokeh you have to go for the 24mm f/1.4G.
My lens that gives the nicest bokeh now is the 70200, but once the 85mm arrive the 70200 cannot compete in the bokeh department jor haha! |

Interesting, it looks like a 'Distortion control data' instead of a firmware? Wonder when is this update date... So far ever since I bought my D90 I've not updated the firmware.

I disable D-Lighting. It is basically just adjust your saturation and contrast only. :S.

Frankly, I used the 1Dmark4 + 85mm f/1.2L II to focus in low light, cannot lock on. But D3 + 70200 f/2.8 locks easily. LOL.
Okay I know not direct comparison in terms of lens but that's the ones hooked on. |

QUOTE(General_Nic @ Nov 10 2010, 08:35 PM) Yupe, both active n passive D-lighting increases noise lvl Basically what D-Lighting does is just adjust your saturation, brightness and contrast to suit your picture only...For D60 n D3000 oni It oso give fake increase to err... wat do u call d ability to view difference of high n low light? Contrast between sky n land? 1D4 af is very great or heaven comparing to 5Dmk2 af |

QUOTE(edwardgsk @ Nov 11 2010, 01:50 AM) Speaking of those AF system, I wonder how D300's AF system compared to 7D's. I prefer the 51 AF point system. More versatile. Nikon's 51 AF system is reliable, rarely does misfocus.51 focus points with 15 cross type or 19 focus point with all cross type, which one more superior. QUOTE(Kent3888 @ Nov 11 2010, 09:25 AM) Not much comments about D700 versus D3 cause seldom use a D700. But, 1dmk4 vs D3 this I can comment Under low light condition is where the D3 shines, the 1dmk4 is pretty slow in low light condition. Don't even wanna talk about the 5dmk2 which is even slower and a lot of misfires lol as compared to D3 which is spot on! |

QUOTE(Kent3888 @ Nov 11 2010, 09:59 AM) Hahaa.... not fair to compare 5dmk2 to D3 la, hahaa... later Canon fans shoot u, compare 5dmk2 to D700 better D700 AF very similar to D3's AF.Even if you compare 5dmk2 to D700, the D700 AF owns 5dmk2 under low light anytime. Even the D300 will be faster and more accurate under low light compared to the 5dmk2. The only AF system that is probably reasonable is the 1dmk4 and 7D. The 5dmk2 and 1dmk3 and older all have AF issue under low light. |

You get a lot of megapixels for that price. Pros and cons. If you're not rushing for time you can slowly focus anyways haha! |

Common because they need the megapixels for big prints. But then again, it is usually the bridals that are using the 5dmk2 a lot. If you look around there's a lot of D3 users.. freelance especially and pros included la... Louis Pang?
