hi people, yes i know there are other similar postings, and i've read them all but being the idiot that i am, i didn't get any of it. here's the deal. i'm hoping to help my school library, upgrading from conventional cataloguing to a more tech friendly approach. so i found an open source library software over the internet, but it requires me to download install and run apache, mysql and perl. so i have no idea what i should do. can i just use the cpu at school which is currently running on windows? if it was just a case of installing and running then no prob but i have to build it up and whatnot. really. should i just give up, or can somebody help me? i want to learn, but i'm afraid online tutorials just don't do it for me.

Koha project (Open Source Library System) as your refering to..

Try something on a non production PC system, and used a HDD without Windows partitions if it have Windows partitions removed it via the Linux installation program.

Depends on your priorities of this project, take it step by step if no urgency, start by download the netinstall ISO CD as stated on the comprehesive user's guide. And take it from there...
