Hey guys, running a i7 930 on with asus p6x58d-e and kingston 3x2ghz 2000mhz t1 hyper x. Current casing is CM690 lite. Anyways, cut to the point. I have been searching and reading on watercooling and after a few days I have finalized on the following items.

CPU block : EK Supreme HF Nickel (This should be fine?)
Pump : Laing D5/ Swiftech MCP 655 (This should be fine as well?)
Radiator: HW Labs Black Ice Xtreme 240mm (Considered the 360mm but dont think I can fit it in somehow?)
Tubes : XSPC 7/16ID - 5/8OD (Radiator barbs are 1/2ID but I want the tubes to fit tight. Or you suggest I switch to 1/2ID tubes?)
Coolant : Distilled water(Feser Aqua) + Biocide from Petra's Tech
Thermal Paste : Arctic Silver 5

Recommendations for items to be replaced can be obtained easily and cheap around the UK I hope (am studying in UK). Or if you guys think this setup is good to go. Im ordering it tomorrow.

this is better at the watercooling club thread.

CPU block : EK Supreme HF Nickel (This should be fine?) - why wouldn't it be fine? Supreme HF is one of the best cpu block.
Pump : Laing D5/ Swiftech MCP 655 (This should be fine as well?) - good pump. you might wanna try the one with variable speed.
Radiator: HW Labs Black Ice Xtreme 240mm (Considered the 360mm but dont think I can fit it in somehow?) - 240mm rad should be enough for processor only loop, might have problem with internal mount.
Tubes : XSPC 7/16ID - 5/8OD (Radiator barbs are 1/2ID but I want the tubes to fit tight. Or you suggest I switch to 1/2ID tubes?) - i'd go with 1/2"ID tubes, get clamps or zip ties.
Coolant : Distilled water(Feser Aqua) + Biocide from Petra's Tech - just get tesco distilled water and biocide. feser water is just expensive water.
Thermal Paste : Arctic Silver 5 - no comment, but supreme hf does come with thermal paste. mx-2 if i'm not mistaken.

I was thinking of shin-etsu paste but, I think a bit overkill? Haha. Thanks for the suggestions, I can save some money off that Feser Aqua.

Can a mod please move this to watercooling club?

barbless is not recommended for beginners because if u need to remove the tube from the barb, u generally can't put it back (assuming u can get it off w/o cutting it in the first place!) - The tubing loses it's elasticity and u will either need to use a clamp or replace that length of tubing. Messy and not worth the bother at this stage.
I chose 1/2" ID 3/4" OD due to thicker wall and hard to get kink at critical bends and compression fittings are easy to obtain.

if u can get the diamond thermal paste also better .
its not overkill .
its beauty .
and dat AS5 is electrically conductive .
better use other option if have .

Think I will use the MX-2 that comes with my heatsink and change to Shin Etsu the next time I remove. Changed "cart" list to 1/2ID 3/4OD like a few of you suggested. 2 meters of tubing is enough for a cpu-only loop I guess.

I have been trying to find guides about radiator placements and loop arrangement. So far I can gather is Pump>Rad>Cpu>Res>pump.

I think mounting the rad on top of my 690 is better than bottom? Currently thinking of radiator fans blowing air into the computer.

3/8 ID 5/8 OD has the best bending ratio icon_rolleyes.gif

1/2ID 3/4 OD is too big in my opinion. laugh.gif

rad at bottom = easy bleeding

I dont think I am worried about bending since Im not OC-ing my GPU. Most likely my WC will stay as a single loop for a long time. Does radiator position affect the performance? I was thinking if rad is at bottom, the air intake will be from inside the case which won't be that cold. If the rad is at top, the intake from my room should be quite cold (<15 degrees) since winter is approaching. And I'm thinking I might go fillport reservoir cause of budget constrains sad.gif

if ur in UK and the ambient temp is <15 degrees then it will be cold enough .

u might even want to consider not getting very cold cause afraid condensation can occur .

like one of d fella said, rad at bottom easier for bleeding process .

and whichever loop style u want is possible but keep in mind that the pump is exactly after the reservoir so d pump get clean water flow from d system .
