If you can point me to the company's website that probably has a demo CCTV feed, I can verify for you....

Otherwise if you are in the vicinity of Lot10 there are a whole bunch of connected devices (PCs, Macs, younameit) that you can try yourself.

no i mean we can set up server at home and ssh/connect to it because of global IP, not like other 3g/4g provider that's using proxy...

i am not quite convinced it is glocal IP .. it just that lowkl point out that it's IP range should be gloabl IP.

if you can setup the cctv at home .. on your server(win/linux) and be able to connect to them with global IP, (regardless it's dynamic/static - dyndns.org would fix that). but too bad that umobile/maxis upload is slow, compare to what i've seen here on YTL as reported by our friends.. the upload is quite impressive = better for cctv streaming purposes, if it stays like that la.. smile.gif

It looks like public IP address range here: 183.78.x.y. Probably Yes is like Streamyx, offering public IP addressing scheme to each YES modem device.

But, to be sure, you should type at the DOS command prompt the following command:
CODE
ipconfig  /all

Check an entry with YES device's network interface.

I use a Huddle, which is a router.

All local machines are handed out local IPs, in the 192.168.1.x range. The 183.78.x.x IPs are allocated dynamically by Yes. Running ipconfig will only show the local network IP. It will not provide any indication on whether the service goes through a proxy.

However, accessing the service did not require me to set any proxy on my web browser. In addition BT works through port forwarding on the Huddle. I also tested via http://www.lagado.com/tools/cache-test and looks clean.

I would think the service is without any proxy.

About the Huddle package (RM1200), what will they do if I want to sign up for 24month 0% installment? Charge using credit card?

It's specific credit cards... I think the deal is done in conjunction with the banks. I used Citi, but I remember they mentioned at least 2 more... best to call & check.

Ok, I forgot about YES router.

Anyway, can you use the ticker at my signature to tell about the IP address it detects?

it looks like a good dynamic public IP. tempted to to subscribe -- but still hesitated because of the PAYU style. I definately can't control my usage if the speed stays like that...

Good enough to those who wants to host a mobile server..In my case, I can use it for OpenVPN server on the go...on and off when necessary.

OK...I am lazy to backtrack all YES posts in this forum...is YES router/modem configurable (such as we can do port-forwarding, etc.)?

Hmm...I've checked the website about Yes Huddle...it's not so interesting...nothing that can be configured with it...

http://www.yes.my/portal/public/ytlc/store...ges/moreDetails

Eureka! Someone's blog reveals an interesting piece of info:

QUOTE
All YES customers get a public IP (IPv4). 183.78.x.x is your IP range. Some geolocation databases seem to be service up incorrect ads for the region, but it should be noted that APNIC has allocated the range of IPs to YTL Communications. The Huddle allows port forwarding or setting a DMZ host, so it is probable that you could run a server behind your YES connection; I am still unsure if your IP is fixed or dynamic, though so far I believe I’m getting the same IP on my Huddle.

Wonder if anyone has canceled this pre-registered account?

And how is the coverage if you are on the load?

The cheapest device of Yes costs how much and anyone is selling it in forums or online?

If it is global ip, it is possible to use YES GO dongle to host a server already(without the need to do port forwarding, virtual server setting).
Because when you use YES GO dongle, it is just like the adsl router/firewall with the server's ip moved into DMZ zone.(correct me if i am wrong)
Any computer/server that is in DMZ zone is not protected by router's hardware firewall.
That is why i don't want to use the USB dongle, i will wait until the wimax router is available.

This is the note about DMZ in my Dlink Dir-655 router/firewall:
"The DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) option lets you set a single computer on your network outside of the router. If you have a computer that cannot run Internet applications successfully from behind the router, then you can place the computer into the DMZ for unrestricted Internet access.
Note: Putting a computer in the DMZ may expose that computer to a variety of security risks. Use of this option is only recommended as a last resort. "

You can put a dedicated software firewall, proxy service or network filtering service like NetLimiter on a PC that becomes a DMZ host.. Usually, a DMZ host is set for the purpose to become a filtering gateway (for general user) or a honeypot (for security researcher). All other PCs will go to this DMZ host instead directly to router switch. IT is like a buffer zone between WAN and LAN if configured correctly.
