im using panasonic's one. so far so good and have served me well for 2 years plus and counting. got it for only rm79.90 and its waterproof. but its a small one hence takes a long time if you wanna epilate legs. i use it for underarms only.
heard Braun's is the best but i also heard that they have stop selling epilators already. their price is around rm300+. |

I keep it well. Mine not waterproof. I'm currently using Braun silk epi 7 or something like that. Wet and dry. Comes with lots of different heads. Doesn't use battery unlike my panasonic. And I love it very much. Haha. QUOTE(CyaNide27 @ May 19 2011, 08:33 PM) There are cheaper ones. Like I've mentioned before. My first one was from panasonic. Around rm79.90 only. Good for underarms. Legs a bit hard cause will take lots of time. The expensive one I bought obviously will have other benefits lor. Legs and underarms usually no big deal. Have you tried tweezing yourself before? Almost similar feeling just that it removes all the hair faster than tweezing manually. Also, you'll get used to the pain. |

Ooh. Then the pain factor in epilating won't really affect you la. will epilators cause small cuts like electric shavers? coz once i help my bf shave with electric shaver when press too deep for cleaner shave, will have small cuts and bleed.... kinda noob in this as its my 1st time hearing of epilators.... i went to search online for this epilator but cant find anyone selling it.... usually which department of a mall can find? pharmacies? electrical department where u get men shavers? Yes I know how long it takes to tweeze! hahah. Lots of time wasted. Back pain also after a while. lol I don't think it will cut you at all. It's not sharp, just works as a many tweezers plucking very fast thats all. So sometimes I tend to get bleeds as well cause the hair pull out too fast. I bought my first one in Jusco. But I heard they don't sell Braun epilators here already. I also heard that Braun's one are the best. But Panasonic not bad also la. Get the better ones, I think around RM200-300 or so. |

Hehe. Dont worry babe.At first the epilator switch on, the multiple tweezer noise may sound scary for you. But once you started, you will never regret using it. Your leg and armpit will be hair free and so refreshing. It feels much better and comfortable than tweezer doing the job, fast and easy. Give it a try. |

Is there like a huge difference between epilating when wet or dry? Those wet/dry epilators seem to cost so much more than dry only epilators....

It is the same actually.
Of course the price is big difference because of the extra water resistant/ water proof. It is much more convenient to have the wet epilators because easier cleaning and you can do it inside the bathroom, your own private place. You don't have to worry about getting electrocuted but of course need to know the limit. However dry Epilators you need to brush off and clean it. It is kind of hassle, you need to clean and brush and slightly time consuming. |

i think the waterproof 1 is more convenient....
btw, can guys use epilator for their moustache and beard area? i mean like if use the ones for underarms that size.... was thinking to get the bf one since he prefers to pluck rather than shave but find tweezing everyday is time consuming.... Jusco has quite a range of Panasonic epilators. I'm not sure if the one you want is there.
Yes, waterproof is more convenient. I usually run my skin under warmhot water before epilating. Most of the time I epilate with running water also. Somehow not as pain. Hehe. Yea they can use it for the face but it's gonna hurt. My bf prefers to tweeze as well. He tweeze when he is free but like you say, very time consuming. I gave him my old panasonic epilator which has a smaller head than the Braun one that I'm using. Pain la but I guess have to get used to it. |

Do google it up and you'll see that there are lotssss of women around the world doing it. Or only bikini line? Was wondering to get one since every trip to the salon cosing RM100++ every time .... Some even used it up to the anal opening there, but I wouldn't dare. However, do take note that the pain factor is seriously f*cking pain, no words can describe how pain it is. But you'll get used to it. Or like me, I just give up since the bf don't really appreciate it anyway. Haha. You tweeze pubic hair as well? I couldn't take the pain. Gave up after a few strands lol. When I epilate, I keep telling myself 'no pain no gain' and 'pain once and for all better than tweeze one hair and pain'. But I think it was kinda rough on the skin and there was a time where the red bumps didn't go away for 2 days and it hurt so badly. This post has been edited by munkeyflo: May 26 2011, 06:43 PM |

Your level of pain tolerance must be like super high!I don't know, I think it was just irritated. It wasn't ingrown hairs cause it's like everywhere. Not just one of two like at the armpits sometimes. And the bumps seriously hurt everytime I touch it. Wearing panties was painful. I had to kept applying those lotion to calm irritated skin. |

Ingrowns I don't think can do much about it other than using body scrubs. |

Hi girls, Just read this thread and I'm so pleased to find so much of epilator information. LOL
Now, I think I must get one too! I just Googled for more info and saw this website: http://www.1bikinihairremoval.com/cd--c-18...orSolution.html Base on the price of the famous Braun, I think buying through internet would be cheaper since the dollar is weak now? |

QUOTE(munkeyflo @ May 19 2011, 08:55 PM) Mine is the blue one. There's pink and white version I think. Hi munkeyflo, I see the Braun epil 7 said it can remove 0.5mm hair length.. does it really worksIt's this one. http://www.braun.com/global/female-groomin...ilk-epil-7.html Yes. Expensive! But very very worth it.I actually bought it from a forumer here for quite a good deal cause she exchanged it thru credit card points. It seems hard to find in retail outlets. Currently Im using a Philips 6512 also said it can remove 0.5mm but seems not true. |

Have to use very sharp tweezer. But using the braun silk epil 7, it comes out very easily. |

But I still have one concern, since you are using it for quite some time, people say plucking will loosen our skin (especially for armpit).. I'm wondering epilating has the same result?Especially those very fine hair. My leg hairs are very fine, even use tweezer also hard to pull sometimes. Have to use very sharp tweezer. Loosen skin I don't think so. I'm guessing loosen skin is like older women skin? I have been plucking armpit hair and using epilator to remove underarm hair since I was 15 like that, my underarms are still fine and intact. Probably long term effect of it when we grow older and menopause. I'm not sure. There are many myths these days to trick people in getting other things done, like going for underarm waxing (which are slightly more costly than self plucking) or remove hair with laser treatments. |

Hi ladies
Thanks so much for sharing and I got a lot of info here, especially on Braun. But since it's soooo expensive, so this one is out of my list. Currently I'm thinking of getting an Emjoi one and I'll be buying from the US. But I'm very curious since it's a rechargeable one, so would any one of you ladies tell me how do you recharge your epilator? Do you use a charge adapter/converter? Cos I once bought a lighted mirror and even after using the charge adapter/converter, the light bulbs still exploded!! O.o This makes me stall on buying one since I'm scared it'll get rosak after recharging.. This post has been edited by rahainah: Jun 18 2012, 11:45 PM |

Have you tried to email them to see what is wrong with it? Could be manufacturing defect. Heart very very pain. Have to look for a new one How much did you get it? It's better if you get an epilator from local shops so claiming warranty is easier. Also no need to deal with the difference in voltage. A good epilator here can cost around RM79.90 (Panasonic one). |

QUOTE(munkeyflo @ Nov 23 2012, 03:12 PM) Aw why not? No harm just asking about it. i think the main reason is bcuz harvey norman now employs foreign workers, in which sometimes it's hard to communicate with. I tried asking about a TV, still it wasn't that easy to understand what she said. Or you can just note down the prices and models then ask us here... are those epilators less than 100 bucks good? |

For below RM100, I've only used Panasonic one so I can't really comment on other brands. It served me well for underarms for quite some time. I never really epilate my legs with it. My legs have very fine hair almost invisible and it tends to break when I use the Panasonic one. |

Usually I tweeze once or 2 a week. Not really frequent cuz I don't usually wear sleeveless. Well, you can use it on underarms, legs and also bikini line but the bikini line part will be freaking painful. Anywhere else can use the epilator? But i'm just considering something within 100, since it's not a necessity. If that's the case then just get any one below RM100. Panasonic or Braun are the more popular ones. |

If you have lots of hair in one spot, it's gonna be painful for a while. |

QUOTE(phooifun @ Oct 25 2010, 12:47 PM) Any 1 got any review on different brand/ model of epilator? Wanna get 1 but dunno which is better n terms of function, price and durability. Suggestions pls... thx I bought one a mth ago at Lelong.com.my, Keda kd-190 brand, for RM55, it has 3 row of tweezers and is quite effective and powerful. I was skeptical at 1st because never heard of this brand, but bought it after googling the product and found positive reviews. Now the seller even selling cheaper, I think about RM49 now. |

I have very tender skin and it reacts to any irritants. But luckily I found the best epilator Philips with it, my legs are smooth and beautiful.
