Any thoughts on this ? http://www.skinomi.com/nokia-n8-dry-skin-protector.htmlNokia N8 (Dry Install) Skin Protector Features: • Easy, no hassle installation! No need for any spray or dip solutions! • Toughest clear protective film in the market • Clear protection that is virtually invisible • Preserves your Nokia N8's original design • Protects your Nokia N8 from scratches, dents, and physical wear-and-tear • Patented layer of UV protection for anti-yellowing • Provides protection without affecting the functions of your Nokia N8 • Non-sticky or restrictive outer surface USD19.95 Cheaper than the ZaGG and no orange/yellow peeling effect + non-sticky (or so they say). i've had to off/on the phone twice these last few days, nothing serious but shows that the firmware isn't as bug free as we'd like. Everything worked after the off/on though.
1. camera button not functioning 2. Phone seems to be on lock mode, but the hardware unlock slider and tapping the screen does not do anything.
I hope Nokia fixes these nagging issues and adds more features to the hdmi and media playback (more codec support, subtitles, TV-only output). It will bring the media capabilities up from very good to Great.
Otherwise, the phone is performing up to task, for my usage pattern. Impressed with the camera performance and ease of point and shoot. The free games (though limited in number) are good and fun. Plus there's a backlog of free s60 v5 games to try & the OVI maps is as good if not better than my E71 (ignoring the larger screen of the N8 vs E71, as that is an unfair comparison).
small rant: If i wanted a full desktop browsing experience, i'll wait when i can access a desktop/laptop and do my business there. My phone is for mobile internet tasks (urgent email checking, googling for items, addresses, info), not a Facebook flash device. It helps keep my device small and light. Bar browser/speed aside, none of the the current phones qualify for what I deem 100% web satisfaction, mainly due to the screen size and input methods. The larger "pads" @ iPad, samsung tab are not "phones" so they don't qualify.
Basically: Choose a phone for what you want it to accomplish (and does it well), not based on simply what it can or cannot accomplish.
