For those with problems, check your firmware, is it v10 or v11 (011.012) ? There seems to be some sets still on v10.

no worries, it's cheap. unless you dun have the map installed.
you can try once for let say...5 or 10 mins. the charges is minimal, the last time i tried with 5800xm, open for half hour, charges less than RM 0.10 tongue.gif

Nokia N8 GPS Wiki

Common GPS operation:

1. Let your device at least online ONCE (in every boot) to download the general system health and rough orbits of all GPS satellites (the almanac), if u not online at least once then u will need 15~30 minutes to get this data offline.
2. The satelite publish it timing within 30 secs frame for the precise orbital information (the ephemeris), so make sure u under a clear sky and within 2 minutes u will get a lock
3. DO NOT move when u not in lock
4. Tinted car will decrease the satelite signal (sometimes A LOTS)

My car N97 = dun work in the car
5800XM = dun work in the car
N95 = dun work in the car
Nokia X6 dun work in the car

Only working is Nokia N900 and Nokia N8

A-GPS ( Assist GPS ) - Speed up lock time by retrieve gps location using data from server (Chargable 10cent per lock)
I-GPS (Integated GPS)- Use internal attenna to get a lock the gps (FREE ) but slow and you can choose to work with A-gps to speed up lock time
Network GPS - Speed up constant lock to satelitte by using data from server ( Chargable up to RM5) per destination.
Bluetooth GPS - You can improve the GPS performance by using 3rd party GPS device but drain the phone battery very fast.

Why use the N900 menu? Can be confusing to N8 user who never had N900.
