haha hi mechanical keyboard noobie^^
i seldom see people don even know what is mechanical keyboard but straight buy it

are you like dat?? did you done any research??

No I'm never an impulse buyer tongue.gif Was camping in hardforum searching for a replacement for my junk keyboard

Used some IBM keyboard long time ago and it was noisy but great for speedtyping. Based on what I read cherry browns are the best allrounder keyboards but filcos and the like are very hard to get here so I went with the blues on the blackwidow instead. Besides, it was cheaper than the black 6Gv2 and I'm on a budget.

Picked up a BW Expert from yongkailoon.

First impressions:
-Build quality is good but the choice to use glossy plastic at parts of the keyboard is questionable.
-It's 2KRO as confirmed by geekhack.

QUOTE(evofantasy @ Nov 22 2010, 03:26 PM)
considering getting a mechanical keyboard for typing (comp science) and gaming (sc2 especially where my current cheapo keyboard been affecting my apm a tonne especially ghosting issues))...
so i think i would be deciding between razer blackwidow vs SS 6gv2...
which would u guys recommend...

blackwidow is only up to 6nkeys but i think its more than enuff rite (the 6gv2 have unlimited when it is connected via ps/2)...
pretty much concerned with the nkro issue since i am a sc2 player...
and i am tempted by the extra macro keys...
though i am pretty lost about the blue (though razer said they innovated from standard blue) vs black and had no experiences wit either...

thanks...

ps: i do type kinda hard since been using crappy keyboards for quite some time >.<

The Blackwidow is 2kro not 6kro, zxc fails

I don't think it'd be an issue in rts games though, unlike guitar hero / o2jam

Finally managed to take the Blackwidow for a spin on games after one week of it literally collecting dust.

Personal thoughts:
-Anyone with prickly ears really needs headphones when gaming on it. It sounds a bit like a typewriter lol.
-failed the doubleshift quick brown fox test, it's results are similar
-Like all razer products, it's very flashy - there's a backlit razer logo below the spacebar with adjustable brightness, glossy frame, also feels sturdy compared to most of their mice. Fingerprints are not that noticeable on the glossy frame thankfully, but dust certainly is!
-Also will take a while getting used to. Dotards and the like will have to factor the shifted F1 key - it's sitting above the W key not Q. Also too used to my old keyboard - occasionally I press the macro key instead of LCtrl sometimes.

Then again I'm a mech keyboard nub.

Edit - there's an obvious hole at the arrow keys for customers in retail shops to try out the feel of the mx blues - beware of damaged keys there if buying it off the shelf.

The pulsing light ain't that bad on the BW Expert though, since the only decor LEDs on that one is the razer logo in front of the spacebar.

Then again, 2kro is the least of your worries. I'm getting a little annoyed by the necessity of wiping the keyboard at least once a week.

pchome's list is only standard blue/black/brown keys and no mixed keys? My ability to read Chinese is no better than using Babelfish.

I'm having the same issue with the BW Expert also lol. Ironically buying the ducky would be cheaper than what I paid for the BW, considering the only reason I got it is because it was the cheapest mech keyboard available locally!

Think I'll be grabbing a pair of cherry browns for me and another friend, anyone else interested in getting one?

That's outta my price budget, as much as the mixed keys sound like a good idea.

Was actually looking at this: http://global.pchome.com.tw/?mod=item&func...0X&ROWNO=2&tm=u

Am I missing anything?

His link had mixed cherry keys, PBT keys, some cable management and option to choose english only or mixed english/chinese keys. It also costs nearly double the price the one I quoted.

Does the Leopold come with 104 key version?

Added on December 9, 2010, 5:39 pmWhat are the advantages/disadvantages of buying from vr-zone and PChome?

Does the PChome only come with the version with Chinese lettering?
*
PCHome has some models with pure English lettering, use google translate and look at the dropdown box next to the add to cart buttons to see if that is offered.

QUOTE(beebee @ Dec 9 2010, 05:50 PM)
hi, are you going to do a bulk for this?

how much would is cost in RM?
*
Strongly considering it. The cheapest model (the 2190TWD one) should cost 240MYR after conversion, unless PayPal's a b**** with currency conversion fees.

Anyway moogle, what are your opinions on this Ducky versus the vr-zone MO one?

Just found out that the PBT and cheap USD68 ones only come with Chinese accompanied lettering.

Added on December 9, 2010, 10:42 pmWhy did they put the promotional pictures in the PBT ones that it comes with English lettering when you are only allowed to buy the Chinese accompanied ones only?
*
Do you mean like in the display pics on the website? So it comes with both English and Chinese lettering?

Argh, now I dunno which one to buy. Damn!

OK, who wants to do the MO? Shipping is cheapest in orders with 4 keyboards IIRC.

Also OCN, what's the difference between 1008 and 9008?
