I'm a Johorean. I will stay at home during semester break (December).

You may contact Top-Gun. He has all keyboard mentioned above except Filco Majestouch Cherry MX Blue and Das Ultimate.

My HHKB Pro 2 was sold to him 3 months ago. I bought it at $299 USD ($254 kb + $45 shipping fee). FYI, the current price of HHKB Pro 2 is $275 USD (not include shipping fee yet)  nod.gif

Did someone call me?

Moogle, apparently you do not put all those weird smiley faces after each sentences here while posting in the Lowyat forums. I gotta say this makes everything much more readable, say as compared to having to guess your intonation and expression while writing the sentences on GH.

Yes, I have tried most of the major mechanical keyswitch that are currently available except the Cherry Blue clicky (extensively). Within the short period of testing it, I got to say that my favourite keyswitch is still the Topre keyswitch. Smooth tactile bump and deeply satisfying tactile feedback - as loud as you want or as soft as needed.

In ranking for number 1:

For finger-training sessions, nothing beats the old IBM buckling switches.
For finger-pampering and ear-soothing sessions, the Topre comes forward.

Other than that, I have the brown cherry for most of the other usage.

I generally don't encourage people to buy a Das keyboard. Some problems happen in Das keyboard. You also know that.

Filco Majestouch produces standard quality keyboard.

Once you have a Filco keyboard and want to have better typing experience,  you should consider Topre Electrostatic Capacitive Key Switches keyboard (Realforce / HHKB).

I agree. Because at the Topres price point, it's better to start out small first before paying gobs of cash for a Topre.

I'm still skeptical about whether it's worth the money for a Topre at this point hmm.gif

@[Top-Gun]

Interesting. Your from Malaysia i take it ? Mind if i ask whereabouts roughly hmm.gif So want me to add you to the club ? Just list your kbs and i'll add you.

An explanation why some gamers find blue cherry switches not ideal for gaming.

QUOTE(ripster;238131)
So anyway, back to topic.

There are lots of ways of describing the Cherry Blue hysteresis but I thought this diagram I saw somewhere else was informative.  If you don't ride that middle part any switch is fine.  Otherwise the blue cherry might feel a bit weird but in Blue Cherry Gaming polls at OCN the vast majority of people don't find it a big deal.

Clearly not drawn to scale but imagine a profile view of a key and you are pressing down.
user posted image

Ignore that whole bottom red band - it doesn't really apply to mechanical switches.  But imagine that red band to be bigger in the middle - a sort of "no man's zone" where on the way down the switch activates but until you release a fair amount of distance you're not ready to fire again.

Or a more technical view of it.

Personally I prefer Brown Cherrys for gaming.  They make me fall asleep when typing though (like now).

As explained from the diagram, we can know the hysteresis definitely will cause it to be very hard to spam.

Should be hmm.gif

Filco is quite a premium keyboard. It would be a great choice if your looking for something other than Cherry Mx Black switches, also something cheaper than a Steelseries 7G but not be inferior in any way.

Check the thread or at least just check storm88's post in this thread man.

Added on November 8, 2010, 12:10 pmBtw storm88... Please don't exclude Blue switches. As proven from market it is actually very popular among many people.

Well using crappy membrane keyboard I can only have an avg WPM of 120. It would definitely make a difference if I used a mechanical keyboard. cool2.gif

Maybe, maybe not. Membrane keyboards aren't bad at WPMs. It's just that mechanical keyboards feel much nicer to type on. Maybe the less errors on mechanical keyboards will give you an edge in typing, but I don't think it will be as much as an increase of 30WPM.

120WPM is still crazily fast btw. It's for advanced typists. Can go record court proceedings already.

I've checked all of storm88's post. He didn't mention a specific date.

I'm just asking to see if any people did manage to ask him personally.

From the bar chart, ducky 9008 seems abit more popular than 7G.

Anyway, satisfied with my 7G.

@D.Sync
120wpm is fast enough already, i played the typing challenge in facebook average is about 90+ wpm only. 1 more thing i can tell you is i use normal keyboard and 7G to type, both my laptop membrane keyboard and 7G almost the same only, no make any different. Definitely better typing experience and feel nice but not really improve the wpm a lot.

Because mine is 7G which using mx black switches that totally no click, now hate to type with membrane keyboard a lot, very uncomfortable with it.

YA, I wondering as well. Diatec itself will come into Malaysia or only will sell it online-ly through some distributor?

Yeah cause i believe the Filco and Ducky 9008 are good alternatives to the Steelseries 7G which cost more.

Anyway here are some pictures of the Ducky 9008 PBT variant
http://bbs.kbc-china.com/thread-4085-1-1.html

However the one in the screenshot is some special edition that has black, brown and blues switches on the keyboard :/ But i suspect the one i ordered, just browns with a black spacebar, has the exact same keycaps as shown in that threads screenshots.
