How durable do you reckon it is ?
And why does it look like it has hair follicles ? Whats the difference between the left and the right. The left one is not ducky i suppose ? This post has been edited by Moogle Stiltzkin: Dec 16 2010, 03:22 AM |

red keycap ???
Supposedly the dk9008 comes with lavender wasd keys, a key puller, and possibly a ducky logo key cap as extras. So you bought 2 dk9008 browns ? was it abs black with white font or black on black or the pbt variant ? Make sure you try press FN and F9 together to disable the windows key. It helps for games to prevent you from accidentally minimizing Also do a full review, and let me know whether mechanicals made a difference to you or not; or do you think the mechanical kb propaganda was just a load of bull This post has been edited by Moogle Stiltzkin: Dec 17 2010, 08:41 PM |

QUOTE(xcen @ Dec 18 2010, 02:08 PM) Got my Ducky keyboard! Feels really nice. I will do a review soon when I have the time! I asked on GH, they recommended you mod the spacebar from black to a grey switch. They said it is 80g resistance so won't be so soft.Still getting used to the lightness of the switch compared to rubber dome keyboard. Getting double spaces quite often. Xcen your ducky is black switches ? This post has been edited by Moogle Stiltzkin: Dec 18 2010, 07:58 PM |

Somebody better tell Techster this. He still believes rubberdome bling keyboards like the G19 is way superior LOLZ!!
I still believe cheap rubberdome keyboards have their uses. Nobody want to spend so much on a keyboard before the more important pc hardware such as cpu, graphics card etc has been settled first. But when people do eventually buy better keyboard; the rubberdome is just not as good as a mechanical :/ especially for cases like G19 that cost JUST as much as a mechanical. Cusx Try do simultaneous key presses. You can see a difference that way as well. This post has been edited by Moogle Stiltzkin: Dec 18 2010, 08:51 PM |

QUOTE(Iphone4Lover @ Dec 18 2010, 08:54 PM) May be with the growing/migrating of Touch Screen trend from smartphone industry to PC/Notebook/Tablet industry, they will skip the mechanical kb path and directly go into virtual kb. It will be much more convenience, mobile and suitable to type or use on tablet. There are program such as swype and many more to improve typing on virtual touchscreen kb. They did make something similar to the minority report. But i think it's still a long way to refinement. That could be the future for human computer interfaces i agree http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/09/kinect-...-destiny-video/ This post has been edited by Moogle Stiltzkin: Dec 18 2010, 09:27 PM |

QUOTE(keyb_gr;265146) What do they use on the spacebar anyway? My understanding was that the Duckys with browns had a black switch there (unless I'm mixing things up). I doubt we have a grey one here, at least I can't imagine anyone complaining about it being too light. While linear MX switches are the most likely to exhibit accidental double presses, there shouldn't be that much key bounce. This may indicate either a soldering problem (as mentioned) or a "bouncy" switch contact that possibly could use a bit of bending or just replacement. http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?p=265149#post265149 I recommend you sign up to GH and continue the conversation. Seems odd how you get double spaces :/ so it's better if you check with the experts how to fix it; or if you need to send it back under warranty. QUOTE(Sky.Live @ Dec 19 2010, 06:43 PM) Wait til a keyboard with the functionality of G19 while using doubleshot keyboard with changeable cherry switches.. I asked this same question over at GH whether any mechanical keyboard has a lcd that can work with ventrilo. I don't think there is.xD What's the possibility to buy blank keycaps for my ducky? Price and where? But considering Razer just recently hopped on the mechanical bandwagon; maybe Logitech may do the same in the future or be left behind. When they do; their kbs could be the only ones with a lcd, so that might be very interesting indeed. |

It would be good that once you have a mechanical keyboard with one of the cherry mx switches, you can then use that as a measuring stick whether you need more actuating force (the force required when pressing the key to register it) or not.
From softest to hardest ... Red 45cN (linear non clicky) < Brown 45cN (soft tactile non clicky) < Blue 50cN (harder tactile clicky) < Black 60cN (linear non clicky) http://geekhack.org/showwiki.php?title=Che...ches+and+boards Seems to be a good explanation of the difference between pcb and metal plate mounted switches. Metal plate is more sturdy; whereas pcb mounted is easier to remove the switch. This was why i picked a Ducky because it was plate mounted; whereas the Cherry keyboards are pcb mounted. I wanted something sturdy for my first mechanical keyboard. QUOTE Cherry MX switches can be disassembled without desoldering if they are PCB mounted. If they are mounted on a Metal Plate and a PCB underneath they will have to be desoldered. ![]() @StratOS Yes i believe so. This post has been edited by Moogle Stiltzkin: Dec 20 2010, 11:12 PM |

QUOTE(StratOS @ Dec 21 2010, 09:40 AM) Sorry i didn't really what you meant Yes there is more than 1 cherry mx mechanical switch. Red, blue, brown, black and clears. For spacebars there are also green, grey etc... The steelseries 7G only come with Cherry mx blacks. Filco/Ducky/Leopold they have 3 choices of brown, black or blue switches. So more variety for you to choose from. By the way stratos do you play starcraft 2 This post has been edited by Moogle Stiltzkin: Dec 21 2010, 09:55 AM |

Wow that is a lot of boxes
Those engraves seem durable. No paint to rub off on fingers. My only concern is contrast. Since there is no infill, you can only see the engraving. Kinda reminds me of the ducky black on black keys. This post has been edited by Moogle Stiltzkin: Dec 21 2010, 03:49 PM |

QUOTE(Squarebox @ Dec 24 2010, 02:33 AM) I've seen that too. It will expensive to kit such a kit... SP probably will not have the mold/tooling. They will probably just say they will need USD$60k for retooling... Also if want to move the keys to another keyboard, they may not have the light embeded like the ducky does :/ another con. Anyways no reply yet whether they can do it or not :/ |
