When it comes to things that suit personal taste like keyboards and mouse... There isn't really a baseline on what's better than what.

Some people even prefer the feel of rubber dome keyboard than mechanical, some prefer quality over appearance, some prefer typing with sound, some prefer typing with lots of force.

So I'd suggest people to take the 'experience' part of a review with a grain of salt, it's more practical to get to know the keyboard's features and build quality through a review.
*
Thats why i think user's satisfaction always come first.

But I think without considering about the price and some feature like macro, mechanical keyboard always serve better than rubber dome keyboard as a basic keyboard. No matter how was the user preference, either MX red blue black brown clear green, there must be 1 of them can fulfill the requirement.

the Goliathus discount rm5  tongue.gif
better than nothing. can get free lanyard but i too excited about the keyboard and forgot ask the lanyard  doh.gif
what picture u want? blush.gif
*
hmm, actually nothing much about the freebies.

Get a Razer BW then you will got a free Razer cap.
Then, since you get the BW already, so can purchase a mouse mat at a bundle price.
The lanyard is free gift then stick with the purchase of mouse mat, so we cant say that the lanyard is free gift that bundled with the BW purchase.

aluminium is cold when touching especially in an air conditioned room doh.gif that is why i am not particularly found of metalic keycaps.

Plastic should be sufficient. Not to mention metalic keycaps are costly doh.gif
*
Ya aluminium surface is cold. Checked out about Razer Ironclad mouse mat today. really cold ^^

I've done many overseas purchases so i know how crappy Malaysian customs are.

Delays getting through customs. In worse case scenario; if your item does gets taxed; you need to head down to the airport yourself and pay the tax before they release it.

These days my packages arrive at my doorstep and no tax or any other further incident.

The only bad thing likely to happen is if i receive a package via the local Poslaju and i am not in; they may keep my packgage at their distribution center and i'd have to go collect it myself.

From experience; DHL, EMS, Fedex will deliver to my doorstep, so i've come to like those better than Poslaju.
Anyway some random facts

Malaysia BOLEH.

I'm not really a hardcore gamer and I don't find myself needing that extra few milliseconds to double tap, so I guess Blue suits me.

I love the sound too, just afraid sometimes will disturb others.
*
Not means by gamer or not, not the clicky sound as well.
simply which type of switches that you prefer. if you don like the click, no point to get BW. Just your preference.

mostly our hands have too much force to write on a keyboard. if you really wanted to buy a mechanical, i suggest you guys read alot reviews among those 3 types of cherry MX switch, because after you purchase those switches, you'll be require to train how to control your force and avoid bottoming the keys all the time. and that's most efficient for type writers
*
Ya need read review to decide which type you prefer before you pay.

But i don't think necessary to study how to control the actuation force and point when typing.
Just use it and your hand automatically will adapt, and after 1 week or maybe 1 month, you will found that your typing much more silence compare to previous (if you using MX black, brown or red which is no click)

How much do you think a set of black color blank key caps will cost? (108 keys layout)

Added on December 13, 2010, 3:23 pmIn KL area, where can get the key caps puller? If i am not buying any key caps. Buy WASD is fine but not whole set.

Jasmine i don't keep track of the prices but the pbt variant will be around 400-500 MYR.

Anyway this is what the G80-3494 looks with doubleshots.

user posted image
*
Hmm quite expensive, off my budget.

Anyway, do you think your key caps profile not really fit the Cherry's keyboard steepness?
What i means is the key caps not really face upward and instead it too steep and inclined forward.

I notice this and feel it more obvious in the numpad part of your picture.

The need smooth mechanical switch to improve APM.
Other than that, some time summoning few thing together, higher KRO better to prevent mistake.

Product Model:     DK9008-BEPLB
http://translate.google.com.my/translate?h...atId%3D18&twu=1
So thats like 407.422 MYR for the keyboard.
I paid like 610 MYR for mine so i overpaid by from the Vrzone MO doh.gif
For Singaporeans it costs 540.946 MYR (shipping price already included)

But i don't think this eseller has international shipping right fsbzzz :{ ?
PChome only has in Chinese :{ ??

http://translate.google.com.my/translate?h...%26tm%3Du&twu=1

This is the shipping price for pchome. Weight is for somewhere between 5-10 keyboards
Shame, but at least people have a grasp how much the keyboard is worth :/ just hope pchome has stock.
*
Thx for the link.

But only found the wrist rest is worth 690 is taiwan money right??
The key caps still consider quite expensive for me, not really afford and willng to buy.

What does the normal version lack compared to the special edition ?

I'm not really interested in the usb features; but i rather like the fact it has

1. doubleshots
2. nkro
3. keycap lock even if it isn't as neat as the Ducky FN+F9.
4. judging from your screenshot; the geekhack keycaps might look better on the cherry keyboard doh.gif
And before you ask me why i need doubleshot keyboard when i already have geekhack's; well Cherry doubleshot is considered very good considering the font, and thickness of the key.

So i wouldn't mind having both that and the GH set biggrin.gif
*
Hmm rich guy ^^ (should say willing to spend for these stuff)
Anyway I also considering to get a BW expert maybe ultimate as well, thinking to put 1 permanent keyboard for laptop, but the MX blue keyboard mainly for coursework typing work.

Nice lo
That was my dream wrist rest.
You did bulk order with other? or only yourself? If buy alone also can get at this price then really nice.

Any extra keycaps?? white? orange?
I rather get blank than grey double shot, that was too pricey for me.

Mine doesn't come wit the ducky logo keycap.

I think mechanical keyboard really does give you a better typing experience. The sound and tactile is what that makes it 'feels' good in my opinion.

I think it is definitely not a bull. Maybe those with low WPM will not appreciate this kind of keyboard.  tongue.gif biggrin.gif
*
Not really, type smoothly never means fast.
You will appreciate mechanical keyboard technology once you get used to it. You will definitely hate those cheap rubber dome keyboard (i meas some cheap rubber dome without tactile and so hard to click)

Somebody better tell Techster this. He still believes rubberdome bling keyboards like the G19 is way superior LOLZ!!

I still believe cheap rubberdome keyboards have their uses. Nobody want to spend so much on a keyboard before the more important pc hardware such as cpu, graphics card etc has been settled first.

But when people do eventually buy better keyboard; the rubberdome is just not as good as a mechanical :/ especially for cases like G19 that cost JUST as much as a mechanical.
Cusx

Try do simultaneous key presses. You can see a difference that way as well.
*
Not really for all rubberdome keyboard, some of it were nicely built and the keystroke is quite smooth and can achieve up to 10KRO.
And based on somebody preference such as they like low profile key caps but most of the mechanical keyboard with quite a thick key caps.

I believe there was some good rubber dome keyboard but of cause not G19.

May be with the growing/migrating of Touch Screen trend from smartphone industry to PC/Notebook/Tablet industry, they will skip the mechanical kb path and directly go into virtual kb. It will be much more convenience, mobile and suitable to type or use on tablet. There are program such as swype and many more to improve typing on virtual touchscreen kb. hmm.gif
*
There is still infinite of possibility in the future, maybe 1 day in future you only need to look at the monitor and think about the sentences then the computer will type and print for you, who knows.

Very much so.

Not everyone likes mech keyboards no matter how awesome they are.
Some people just love the soft deep membrane feel (hey I know it sounds wrong but... please.. tongue.gif ).
That's the way it is.
*
Ya maybe some of them look better, with all macro recording, bunch of multimedia key, volume adjusting knob.

G19 (should be replaced by G510 which is better and price so cheap)

G510 with 18 macro button at the left hand side maybe some people need it? (but not me)
They just prefer the good looking, backlit, LCD screen which I think less than 1% user using it.
Actually if i am not a mechanical keyboard user I can say the typing experience on G510 is not bad and nice.

Just we compare G510 with other mechanical keyboard in certain wise, so most of us here chosen Mechanical 1.

virtual keyboard won't actually replace mechanical keyboard, it's just will be an alternative solutions on what people might choose to use.

As for it will become "convenience, mobile and suitable to type or use on tablet. this varies in future and heavily depends on their designs and such.

As for me, i don't really like virtual keyboard actually, because it's a pain in the ass to learn, and what if they change the interface or replace another one. Sorry but i find those things won't last very long, and it won't be easily absorb by the public, because virtual stuff are easily replace by another thing in future, and stuff advance too rapidly.

For programs like swype and many others, it's still just a alternative solutions to type on your mobile, This doesn't actually let's you type faster and more enjoying, and more of a more "Unique Way" to show your friends how you type on your mobile, which is doesn't improves users experience on typing one, as it require you to relearn all typing mephod. and another problems comes as you're limited to only the phone OS as if the programs only support android. then GG.

well i do believe that we're actually heading off topic between this as well as membrane keyboard.

For me, Membrane Keyboard has it's uniqueness and several advantage over mechanical keyboard, and vice versa between each other( i'm not saying mechanical keyboard are bad either), it's just that each keyboard are it's own advantage and disadvantages.

But in here, i do have to say that users have choices to choose between membrane keyboard as well as mechanical keyboard. either you go for blingbling future badass looking. or you go for classic looking, durability, and comfort typing experience(comfort varies from person to person.
*
lol not really la, what you talking about is current technology. So virtual keyboard in future might be superb.

About decision between mechanical and membrane keyboard, now people may choosing among them. But in future no need to choose, mechanical keyboard maybe combine with membrane keyboard function, you can see lycosa but mechanical version in future also.

LOL this thread somehow does go off-topic like what you said. tongue.gif However, dont just limited the competition to mechanical and membrane. Virtual kb may become the trend in less than 2 years time. wink.gif

No doubt that virtual QWERTY on smartphone are still inferior to any of the PC keyboard but there are no better option for smartphone out there. So program such as SWYPE were invented to improved it(on smartphone only as i also dont see the need/convenience to swype on full size virtual kb).

However, virtual kb does win traditional hardware keyboard in the customization ability part. It will be easier to customize to users own like such as the size of keys(even individually also possible thumbup.gif ) or location of keys(may be not to important/suitable). Lastly, setting macro or backlit can be easily done on virtual kb. nod.gif

Though, i does agree that there is still lots of full size virtual QWERTY need to improve to provide better typing experience and there may be better technology being invented in future to fully discard the need of kb(hardware and virtual).
*
Ya, good keyboard is very important for good typing experience. But imagine no longer need to type in future? done by psychic??

What's the possibility to buy blank keycaps for my ducky? Price and where?
*
ya possible, but most probably you need find people to do bulk order and import it. The price also superb.

Follow up with moogle, I think in GH still voting for the type of key caps for next bulk order.
