Seems like JPO sounds awesome (well except for the missing samsung keyboard)..

Im still on JG4 dunno whether its a good time to move over to the dark side..

havent even rooted my fone yet..

but if i want to flash to JPO i need to root first and install a few things like titanium backup and root explorer issit? and i read on XDA dat i would need a factory reset? dat means everything will be wiped?

nope, now everything is easy.

1) download the rom
2) download CWM
3) go to recovery
4) use CWM to flash the rom
*
but first i must root right? and i must backup my efs or sumthin also right?

hey guys i got a problem, i used to connect my fone without switching on the usb debugging and then juz clicking mass storage and mount.. however, when i switched on the usb debugging, when i open my computer, the drives for my fone do not appear on the my computer page..

this was fine coz i could juz use the mass storage route instead of turning on usb debugging, however, now i juz flashed to Doc's JPO 7.5.. and i cant do what i previously used to do, i now only can use the usb debugging way, and my computer doesnt recognize my fone, same goes for my other PC

Did u tried wipe cache and data?  --- if not, then do it, i always do this whenever i flash to a new ROM
Did u set ur APN properly? As i remembered when i flashed to JPA v7.5, when i open my apn list, there is 4 to choose, Maxis 2G internet, Maxis 3G internet, Maxis ... something with MMS la.. but all this option, none is set correctly.

So do the proper setting for apn dulu, then restart ur phone and see how.
*
I did wipe cache and data before i flashed the rom.. and my APN settings all shud be correct.. especially because i can connect to the internet, send sms, and make calls, juz have problem receiving calls..

coz i see that many unbranded UK sets are XEU so i assume mine is XEU

btw, the kies only will update the firmware based on the country we using the kies?
*
owhh, but if we dun plan to use kies then we dun need to change the country code thing right? and what if i need to claim warranty? im guessing mine is already void..

U can't do via CWM. There is 2 ways plp do: once ur phone fully charged, do not unplug, do th reset of batt stat then unplug.

1st way: (via root explorer, it is a paid app, how to get th 'paid' app, 'search' it fr net)
- data/system
- look for battstat.bin, then long tap on it
- delete.

2) via terminal emulator (can get fr market)
- there is a serial of code to type, u can search it fr xda.
- make sure u switch off xt9 when u typing th command

once u done any of th above method, soft reboot ur phone, tt done.
*
Alrite thanks.. i sed CWM coz i saw in CWM tat theres an option to delete battery stats.. but i guess its best to do it thru root explorer..

and when u say soft reboot, u juz mean off and on right.

Oh if CWM got a function to delete batt stat, pls use it. I only started to use CWM when i flash DOC ROM recently.

Soft reboot mean u keep holding th power button ONLY until u see th samsung i9000 screen come out then release ur finger. But if using CWM to wipe batt stat, then u can choose th reboot function fr CWM.

owhh kk thanks man!

guys, thinkin of flashin to doc JPO since feedback abt batt life is gd.. I'm on DXJF4, wad do I need to do b4 flashin?? can jz flash rite away??
*
i juz flashed from DXJG4 to Doc's JPO.. process was relatively simple.. follow his instructions to the T.. and also u shud be rooted, go backup ur stuff.. and i suggest u wipe ur data/factory reset.. coz i had a problem when i flashed it without wiping data/factory reset, then i had to wipe my data and reflash it, and my problems went away.. u might not have problems if u dun do a factory reset.. but i did.. so i guess i was juz unlucky..
but nonetheless its a relatively simple process, follow Doc's instructions well.

oh yea, and would be good to have ur fone fully charged before u flash, this is to make sure ur fone wont die halfway while flashing..
