QUOTE(VinceLee @ Oct 23 2010, 09:44 AM) or you can always double click on the word, it will highlight that particular word and change it, i think you can find this info in the swype tutorial, still trying to get used to swype but i love it cos its fast and smooth |

QUOTE(freakfingers12 @ Oct 26 2010, 11:15 AM) Arghhhh! Maxis gives people so much trouble! My line got barred again. Even with a data plan of 1.5Gb they charged me so high because i over used by around 100Mb, was charged additional RM200. If your not under any contract with Maxis, i suggest move to Digi, their data plan is unlimited!! I've only used the phone for a week. My data charges for the first 2 days was not under data plan and they charged me over 1k for it, suspecting me of using 230MB+? This is unbelievable! Hey guys, in v5, there are a few people with overcharged bills from Maxis right? (emino and others...) How do you guys solve this? And did Maxis overcharge again? I am going to Maxis centre to settle this. The area where i am staying have been having 3G Network issues for the past week, called them and they say they are trying to resolve the issue, i mean can i get some kinda rebate for this issue they are having? |

QUOTE(bysquashy @ Oct 26 2010, 06:09 PM) Hi guys, I just got my SGS and I'm actually a bit embarrassed to ask but here goes, how do I "enter" when using swype to compose SMS? Congrats on getting a great phone, plenty to learn here, try going through the tutorial in the swype option, it helps a lot to go through the tutorial. you basically move from one word to another to form the word you are looking for. for example, "SWYPE", place your finger on "S", then move to W by sliding your finger on the keypad, then slide to "Y", then "P" and finally "E". its actually that simple.now if you ur asking how to activate SWYPE keypad, hold on the text box for few seconds, the option will appear. you can also find a lot of help on SWYPE via You Tube This post has been edited by janov: Oct 26 2010, 06:15 PM |

Also, I find that games like Abduction which use the sensor will not properly disable the sensor after exiting. This is a huge power drain for me even on Voodoo JM8 as the sensor's running at 100% the whole time. I've only been able to fix this by reseting the phone. Weird. I've identified a few battery sucking apps which I've either uninstalled or do not run at all, not sure if you guys agree: 1. WhatsApp (lagged, delayed messages, sucked power, no way to disable) 2. Trillian (this was a real battery killer - I hate it now) 3. eBuddy (was always a battery killer) 4. Tweetdeck (great app, shame about the power suckiness) [/quote] i use meebo IM over ebuddy because ebuddy really drains battery fast though i prefer ebuddy interface. anyone knows any better IM that have good performance? |

QUOTE(mengsuan @ Oct 27 2010, 03:28 PM) But the problem with MSN Talk is it is only if you have a msn account, if you have Yahoo then you need to install another App, i'm quite happy with Meebo actually but i do keep Ebuddy cos i dont mind using it once in a while altough it sucks battery life. Wish everyone can standardize and use Gtalk no have not tried Nimbuzz or Fring, actually downloaded Nimbuzz but when it ask for Register, i gave up, although it is free, i just do not want to register with so many IM apps but if someone can confirm that this 2 IM app you mentioned is worth trying i might change my mind This post has been edited by janov: Oct 27 2010, 03:45 PM |

QUOTE(mengsuan @ Oct 27 2010, 05:49 PM) mV=milivolt. Not current. The voltage is not device specific; depends on cell chemistry. Wah you damn good ah can understand his question, i was looking through my SGS and mine shows 4156mV at 97% (Unplugged like an hour and half ago) but what Meng Suan mentioned about the battery is spot on.Li-on max voltage: 4.2V Absolute max: 4.25V (more than this = plating occurs = high internal resistance = high heat production = oxygen build up = battery buldge = potential hazard) Nominal: 3.7V Added on October 27, 2010, 5:58 pm QUOTE(michaelnct @ Oct 27 2010, 05:52 PM) Just to share my experience after months using my SGS (stock ROM). whenever I feel the phone start lagging and battery drain faster than usual. I just reboot the phone and everything back to normal. No lagging and the battery easy can last more than 2 days (moderate use FB, Tweetdeck, download apps, games, FW, stock watch, etc). yup i do the same thing, just like Windows la, got problem, just restart!! it works thoughThis post has been edited by janov: Oct 27 2010, 05:58 PM |

QUOTE(Harddisk @ Oct 27 2010, 07:08 PM) Testing my first use of Mobile AP (JG4 fw), connecting from iPad. For some reason, i find connecting via Tethering is faster than Mobile AP, not really sure why. The reason i overshot my 1.5Gb limit was cos of Tethering.Data usage was quite high on iPad. A few MB in just minutes, despite not downloading anything extensively. Anyway, the performance was quite good. Maybe because the phone was just beside me. It was fun, only if I'm not restricted to 500MB. |

QUOTE(- JaY - @ Oct 29 2010, 11:07 AM) serial number can't change because its physically there.. as for IMEI, I couldn't confirm with you because I remember coming across people saying IMEI might be wipe, but i don't know how and why. normal flashing should be okay. As far as i know, IMEI # is usually embedded with the GSM/3G Module in the phone, it is a fixed value which cannot be changed, its a unique code for the phones GSM/3G module, perhaps someone can verify this |

QUOTE(- JaY - @ Oct 29 2010, 11:20 AM) you need to be rooted in order to wipe battery stats.. Refer explanation on IMEI # via Wikipedia : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International...ipment_Identityhmm.. but i am sure i read it somewhere.. either here or xda that IMEI can be wiped/changed.. oh well, have to wait for the experts. seems like its a unique # for the GSM Module as i have mentioned This post has been edited by janov: Oct 29 2010, 11:27 AM |

QUOTE(sissoko @ Oct 29 2010, 03:27 PM) You can monitor your battery usage in Settings-About-Battery Use. Usually the Display uses the most. You need to specify your usage pattern for us to make a better judgement on why your battery is draining fast. anyway, i do charge it almost everyday, perhaps something you need to get used to; the price one pays for owning a smart phone. |

QUOTE(ballak @ Nov 2 2010, 05:44 PM) this phone battery lifetime is very bad...everyday i need to charge the phone..even i didnt use for surf..disable auto sync and animation.. if your phone is still new then the battery life will not be so good, give it a couple of weeks and see how. mine is more than 3 months old, with normal usage of sms, calls, check email sometimes can last 2days. but if you browse and actively use the phone, it will drain fast usually 1 day. i believe display eats up a lot of juice. also try to set your network to 2G if you are not surfing, can improve battery life by quite a lot. The good: Blazingly fast 1GHz processor; 4-inch Super AMOLED display; good camera which supports 720p video recording; intuitive main menu interface; built-in 16GB memory (2GB reserved for apps); supports video calls. The bad: No camera flash; Adobe Flash not supported in browser; one-day battery life; custom software needs improvement. for the bad, nothing you can do on the phone unless you decide to carry a torchlight if you decide to take pictures at night, for flash and software imrpvement, it will only get better with time. froyo already supports flash. basically all phones got pros and cons |

QUOTE(hxcpride @ Nov 3 2010, 05:02 PM) is it possible SGS battery get overcharged if the Adapter cable connected 24/7? cuz i read somewhere it automatically disconnect once its fully charge?? how does it work? most if not all batteries have a built in protection circuit, if it detects the voltage level is full it will auto cut off, so dont worry, most people do the same thing with lap tops |
