TeamWhiskey has got SGS Vibrant running at 1.6ghz stably... wonder if I should flash to 1.6ghz too... Doesn't seem to be very useful to me as my phone is already smooth as hell...
I wonder if it improves battery life |

I didn't try it... flashed it back to Fusion. It actually came with a GPU OC too... TS screenshot shows 89FPS with neocore.
Speed improvement part is very noticeable. Booting speed is much faster and computing of application list is also smoother and takes shorter time. This post has been edited by JustForFun: Oct 28 2010, 09:42 PM |

QUOTE(RoMa_84 @ Oct 29 2010, 01:34 AM) Just curious about the battery life. I'm using stock rom with voodoo lagfix and voodoo color beta4. I usually charge my phone fully before i sleep and when i wake up after about 6 hours, only 75-80% is left. Another things is 3-4 hours of more or less continuous of angry birds or fruit ninja will drain my battery from 90% to 25%. Make sense? Btw i don't change the 3g settings and leave my phone brightness 1t 25% all the while. Battery life is horrible in my opinion. Your battery life is abnormal. Assuming that you don't turn on your WIFI/3g, eight hours of sleep should deplete at most 5-8% of your battery with stock rom. Try reconditioning your battery.QUOTE(freakfingers12 @ Oct 29 2010, 02:25 AM) Tested Fusion 1.1 w/JACS kernel. It was snappy but keyboard was a little buggy. Music player hangs at times, and USB connection reboots everytime I connect to the computer. Generally, it was for OC purposes only. I didn't do any tests before switching back to default rom cause there's no way to get into nandroid recovery, the buttons got mixed up with Samsung Vibrant. Obviously it will be buggy since it's not for the international version. Works perfectly fine for me. I am not sure if you could use the Mahattan RC0 kernel that allows you to flash to 1.6ghz as it's customized for Vibrant but according to the team, they are releasing it for the other variants also. I flashed back to JAC kernel after a while because I feel that 1.6ghz is overkill and setCPU doesn't allow me to stop at 1.2ghz.... It must be 800mhz or 1.6ghz.Switched back already... Was going to try flashing the kernel on my froyo but not in the mood right now... Maybe tomorrow la... |

First time I actually put some serious test on my GPS... Locked 4 satellites in 5 minutes, 9 in 10 minutes... Wonder if that's normal

QUOTE(freakfingers12 @ Oct 29 2010, 09:32 PM) This is weird, my SGS doesn't seem to truly multi task. I was playing Angry Bird, and I pressed HOME button. Got out to home page and hold HOME button to get back to Angry Bird. And the game starts all over again. How come? The last time I played it, it continues from where I stopped. Now it's acting "iPhone" like.... Did you have any auto task killer installed ? |

QUOTE(- JaY - @ Oct 30 2010, 02:17 AM) guys a quick question, my friend set his SGS to 2G Only, and his maxis called to say that he exceeded the data quota, but 3G Watchdog is only showing 400mb. He says that it might be because of 2G only settings. dont think its true right? anyone that uses 2G only care to share? Maxis is infamous for overcharging data plan users. 2G and 3G would be the same except the speed and battery power consumption. Only reason I can think of is that 2G takes longer to load than 3G, then the time you spent on data connection would be longer but I doubt that affects anything... IIANM telco charges you based on your data usage(ups/downs) not how long you use. |

I used to have a lot of problems with Odin until I found out the right sequence to use it:
1) Launch Odin and select all the files and/or options needed 2) Connect USB to your phone without the battery 3) Go into download mode by holding vol up/down and insert the battery After this Odin should be able to pick up your phone. Those guides I found on xda(and in this thread) usually recommend you to get into download mode first before plugging your phone to get connected to Odin which will cause many problems such as getting stuck at File Analysis/cache.rfs This post has been edited by JustForFun: Oct 30 2010, 08:54 AM |

I'm amazed at how well xda devs do their jobs for free. Flashed to Project Core v1 and current Linpack MFLOPS = 9.874 Quadrant = 2470

I actually hope that Samsung will design the phone for Google since they are always releasing phones with leading technologies in term of hardware but they fail so much on software development, which is what Google is strong at.

QUOTE(yvliew @ Nov 2 2010, 10:07 PM) What do you mean by the "H"?Added on November 2, 2010, 10:36 pm QUOTE(thornduck @ Nov 2 2010, 10:02 PM) Alright, thanks guys. Will play around with it for a few days while I take my time trying to sift through this thread. I root my phone the next day I got it. Applied lag fix and installed all the recommended Android apps right after. Didn't do anything until last week when I started flashing ROMs and messing with kernels to improve the performance of the phone. This post has been edited by JustForFun: Nov 2 2010, 10:36 PM |

Does anyone notice black lines scanning through the camera when taking picture/video under certain lighting? That problem seems to follow the video taken... you can clearly see the black lines cycling throughout the video

QUOTE(mengsuan @ Nov 9 2010, 09:20 PM) Galaxy S audio is fantastic. Today is tried Sennheiser HD558, Grado SR225i, ATH M50, Beyerdynamic DT440, Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 250 ohm, Shure SRH840 Reference. You have that many headphones? Or you went to Jaben SGS is capable driving 250 ohm headphone to moderately high volume at max volume. |
