QUOTE(skydrake @ Oct 22 2010, 06:09 PM) i bought my sgs month ago, still reading and understanding for rooting & updating my sgs firmwares. currently eclair.dxjg4 still. mine is still a virgin sgs originally from maxis data plan. Welcome to the club, mate.still in a scary situation flashing it on my own.. gathering more info b4 doin it. but i MUST do it. haha... got some silly question here. 1. can i flash my sgs without my sim card? reason is i dont wants unwanted disturbance eg. ppl calls/sms in. 2. can anyone provides me more details steps from 0 on whats my needs and importants things i needs to know b4 i flash my sgs? as i said.. i read this in month time and i still could not understand it very well. dumb me >.< thats it currently 1) sim removal is not necessary as most firmware flashing happens before Android is loaded, which means the telephony service is not loaded. Your sim won't be receiving calls. |

This msg is for angel-girl. If you want to try JPM Froyo firmware and apply z4mod lagfix (ext2), please download from the hotfile link below:
http://hotfile.com/dl/77589231/e19a066/z4z...101022.zip.html It contains all the necessary files plus a readme.txt that I've added with instructions. Hope the files and guide are useful to you. |

QUOTE(naimadam @ Oct 22 2010, 08:53 PM) Ya i find z4mod to be quicker overall compared to voodoo. However z4mod is less mature so maybe data loss risk is higher. Seems to suck less power too, so far. Will test for a week to be sure. |

Added on October 22, 2010, 9:25 pm QUOTE(ojp @ Oct 22 2010, 01:59 PM) Hi, I just brought my galaxy S to Samsung Service Center PJ as i noticed that when i tap on the chrome part near the volume button and noticed there is a tap sound and have some loosen touch feel. This post has been edited by Fornx: Oct 22 2010, 09:25 PMFirst of all, i would say their technician is not so technically well versed and with a bad attitude as well. They told me that every galaxy S also have this and asked me not to bother about it. (well we paid rm1699 for a device and you asking me not to bother ?) Then they brought out 1 galaxy S and show me that the device is exactly having the issue which i'm having. I'm asked them is it possible to check and replace the chrome part should there is a defect, they said its not possible cause the chrome part is comes together with the glass and Super AMOLED. Guys, could you all check whether your galaxy S also encountering this issue ? Thanks in advance. |

I think the best JP6/JPM combo so far is that of Darky's. Please go to the link below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=814091 All you needed is included in ROM including 2e recovery mode previously unavailable in most custom ROMs. And the fact that it supports ClockworkMod recovery method makes flashing easy. Not to mention it includes voodoo pre-6 so right after flashing and reboot, voodoo lagfix is applied immediately. I'm loving this ROM so far and it is speedy. Another nice feature is the lock screen. It includes information like alarm time, clock date-time, even battery level during charging. Well, the rest of the features you may read it from the link provided. best lagfix is now this
Universal lagfix [EXT4,JFS] and tweak kernel (click here) it's a kernel mod that includes all the various fixes (oclf, voodoo, reformatting partitions) using either ext4 or jfs (which is claimed to be more battery friendly than ext4). the mod also includes various other tweaks that were earlier posted by different developers and also includes the excellent backlight notification mod. so it's kind of a all-in one fix. the big plus is that you can choose which lagfix you want to apply at the recovery menu. if you are not happy, then just reboot to recovery menu and choose another fix!! it's all sound very complicated, so please make sure you thoroughly read the first post before attempting it. that said, i find it quite problem free if you follow the instructions clearly. |

Hey guys... 2 questions... one is do any of u encounter this problem when smsing? During smsing... the phone will lag suddenly, and all the words will suddenly appear in one go that u previously type, and does it sometimes quit itself or hangs and just display the keyboard on the screen while u can still quit out to the menu but the keyboard will remain on the screen taking about half of the screen size and the only way to cure is a battery pull out method ? Hope u guys understand what i'm going through. At first i thought it was me accentily pressing the back button but turns out it isn't. It either quits itselfs or hangs until i pull the battery out. I'm using the Vlingo keyboard setup.
2nd question, how do i create playlist on the com for my samsung Galaxy S... ? Doesn't seem to be able to do that through kies . Thanks u all for answering these questions in advance. |

Hi there, I know this might not be relevant for this post but since all of you are pro SGS users, you might be able to help me to clear a few things up
1. Most of you bought the phone (RRP) or signed contract with Maxis? Been hearing a lot of complaints about Maxis's data plan, izit really that bad? 2. If i were to purchase the phone from Maxis at RRP 2599, and keep to my Digi plan instead of maxis, will it affect any of the phone's functions? access to android market? or anything? |
