guys,
wanna ask

i need to install CFroot kernel in order to upgrade to jpo
(im currently in JG4)
so which version of CFRoot file should i choose? As there's no option for JG4

and what i did was to pick the CFRoot file for JPO and in the process, my phone got bricked and couldn't restart, luckily i still manage to flash back to JG4 again.

Any help?

CFroot is kernel only, it doesn't upgrade your firmware to JPO (froyo) from your JG4 (eclair).
So when you flash a froyo kernel into an eclair firmware, you will brick your phone..

You will need to download the JPO firmware and flash it...
and then use the CFroot to root the JPO firmware...

but i will need to get into 2e recovery mode in order to flash to JPO using doc's method in xda.
So in order to get into the 2e recovery mode, I'll have to use CF Root files but CF root file doesn't have any option file for JG4 and i can't can proceed to flashing without it.

so how? hmm.gif

Use CWM, it should boot to 2e recovery and then you just select doc's zip file..

Nope you need CWM to flash Doc's rom. Easiest way to get CWM is by installing rom manager from market and flash CWM from there.

You don't need to flash JPO firmware to use doc's rom.

Firmware is original software from Samsung

Custom rom = modified firmware from samsung.

Doc's rom is FULL rom, means you don't need to have the base firmware before applying on it.

Please again and again, read the instruction given by the developer, its very clear there.

Doc's instruction never ask you to flash ANYTHING from samfirmware.

But bro, it's stated that we need to have 2e recovery before able to flash to JPO using Doc's method.

And THE ONLY link/guide there to get 2e recovery is by using RFroot kernel. But it's only available for JPM, JPO, JPA,JPH etc.
but i'm still in JG4.
so how? sorry, I'm quite new to this still.

recovery2e is available to ALL ECLAIR(2.1) build, which means your JG4 also got.

Froyo by default has recovery3e, unless you flash custom rom for Froyo then only got 2e for Froyo.

So lets say your on JG4, steps to follow is

Download CWM, rename to update.zip, put in INTERNAL sd card,
download the custom rom you wan, i assume is JPO 7.6.2, put in INTERNAL SD card( no need rename)

Off phone, boot into recovery ( volume down + home + power)

choose apply update.zip

then phone will reboot into recovery again

choose apply update.zip

then it will go to CWM recovery,

choose install zip from SD then choose the custom rom you just put in.

apply, reboot, kau tim.

Its so simple, READ is the most important thing.
