USB debugging is not really necessary for accessing the drive in the phone. Just the USB mounting thing will do.

Yes, default Eclair JG4. I use Beta 4 because it should have fix battery eating issue. Beta 3 and previous version have bugs that the CPU is always running at 1GHz.

Yep, that's my experience as well. Voodoo is built off the open source kernel released by Google. Samsung has done lots of customizations on top of this kernel that improve battery life tremendously (on the Galaxy but that isn't saying much). I'm on the JM8+Voodoo4 kernel and it's been going ok so far.
As much as I'd like to believe this, SamFirmware is not Samsung official and hence, it's no more than an unsubstantiated rumour at this point. I'll believe it when I see it. The Galaxy S and all its problems (lag, GPS, mysterious power drains, half assed Froyo implementation) and Samsung's inability to acknowledge much less fix them has seriously made me think twice about owning any future Samsung products.

Yeah, SGS still has lots of unrealized potential. Samsung just needs to hire better developers.

yes it's true but before i use voodoo, my battery still will drain at least 5% in the same situation..
