/hijack thread

Hey, I'm new here, so I guess I'll introduce myself.

I'm a Chinese American that usually plays WoW on US servers. I can't really write Chinese (though I can speak a little, Mandarin/Cantonese) so I decided to sign up for TW WoW. I'm on the trial, and tomorrow is the last day of my trial. I have 2 toons on TW WoW, a level 13 Worgen Hunter on Lake Wintergrasp and a level 8 Tauren Paladin on Stormscale. I also have a presence here but I just decided to sign up here for teh lulz.

But yeah. I understand minimal Mandarin and when I get my hands on a game card from here in New York, I can lend a hand to you guys.

Latency connecting to Taiwan is fairly good, 400-600 ms at 11 AM local time (~10 PM in Taiwan). Hurray for high-speed internet!

It actually isn't, at least it isn't with my old laptop when I was doing For the Alliance it would be at least 1,000 ms. Celeron mono-core processor inb4 stone age of PCs.

Besides, it's part of a bet with my mom. I told her I'd be fluent in Mandarin by playing the TW localization for 3 years. Now she's paying for both US and TW.

You have to understand I'm connecting to a server whose physical location is a 15 hour flight from me.

The cruelest of irony. I renewed my US subscription today but then my TW trial ran out of days the same day.



There goes both games at once until I can get the MyCards off TaoBao.

I'm pretty sure that's not a bug. My minutes were counting down when I was creating a character.

Can't join a guild while on trial if I'm not mistaken.

For the trial it's both a factor of both the days AND the minutes. They count down at the same time.

For example, you have 4 days left and 1200 minutes left. They are SEPARATE VARIABLES, meaning that if you choose to recharge your account with minutes, they will remove the days restriction, and vice versa.

So, 4 days and 1200 minutes. You insert 3000 minutes, and now you have 4200 minutes and unlimited days to PLAY those minutes. That's why it's so flexible.

Paragon's Mancheese using Dark Simulacrum vs. Sinestra equates to ballistic damage. However, they hotfixed that bug. Goddamn, billions of damage versus Sinestra and almost killing her in a couple of shots?

Correct. Well, sorta. If you're in blues (I.E heroic gear) you can easily best 100K. Tanks on average have 120K+.

On-topic, my mom's seriously been lazy about the card. I'm getting sick of this but I can't get it myself since I don't have a credit card. Considering Taobao but I don't even live in China, so... yeah.

Nein. I'm only 12, locked out of all payment methods save for cold hard cash. Sure, I have deep pockets and could get a prepaid debit card for $100, but... I don't wanna spend that money and would rather leech off my mom. Stealing isn't an option, she keeps tight tabs on cash around the house.

I explained earlier, it's part of a bet with my mom. I can't read Chinese, but I can speak it decently. I play WoW in the US, so I downloaded the Taiwanese client to at least learn how to read Chinese. Looking to maintain playing both localizations.
































And my friends are always pestering me about Chinese curse words, since all the kids at my school who speak a different language teach each other curse words in their own language.

I'm actually fine with waiting. I already showed her how to get it but she's just being lazy about it. Just pester her some more and she'll crumble.

I leveled up before battlegrounds gave XP and it took me 9 months to ding 80 because I'd stop for weeks at a time when I was top-of-bracket just so I can kick ass. Best time of my WoW life. EVER. I didn't give a shit about being ganked by rogues. The pure thirst for blood when fighting Horde while still learning about WoW was great.

Err...

The trial counts down from 14 days OR 3000 minutes, whichever runs out first.

I had to find that out firsthand. You're only ever given one variable when you pay for it. However, when it's on trial, you're given both variables and if one runs out (whether days or minutes) first, your account is frozen.

E: Of course, if you pay for the MyCards and you insert minutes, not days, into your account, only the minute variable is considered.

So they integrated TW WoW with Battle.net, and seizing the opportunity I merged my TW account with my US Battle.net account. It's a nice day all around, eh? No? Log-in issues? Oh. I still don't know because I'm trying to win King of Procrastination with the game time cards.
