Sometimes I just can't accept the fact that we are playing in the Europa League rather than the Champions League. Yesterday, don't know whay I woke up and walked to the living room to switch on the TV to watch the game, but after the game, I felt very sad, Liverpool are playing in the lower standard Europe league, and we still playing badly. Now I just know one thing for sure, Liverpool are totally screwed up, if RH still acting and playing this shit tactic, Liverpool, very high chances, will be playing in the lower standard English league next year as well.

The best performance of the season if you ask me and it isn't just because we won, it's because we played like a team hungry for 3 points. In the first half especially, we passed Blackburn into submission. We played some fluid attacking football and I reckon it was because Gerrard played further up the park, meaning we didn't have to punt the ball up for Torres to chase down. He provided a vital link between midfield and attack, and he got good support from Maxi, Lucas, Mereiles and Cole. We attacked as a unit, something I have rarely seen in recent times. I can safely say that it was Maxi's best showing in a red shirt. He tackled hard, got himself in dangerous positions with some intelligent running and kept the ball when in possession rather well. If not for some woeful finishing, the result would have been determined by half time.

I mentioned earlier that our best defender of the season so far has been Kyrgiakos. He has put in decent shifts whenever he's called upon and it's no suprise to me that he made such a significant contribution last night. He was always a threat from setpieces and ensured our airspace was safe from aerial invaders. I'd like to think it was a shrewd decision to start him by Hodgson but I don't think he had a choice with Agger and Johnson being out. Blackburn are a dangerous team from set pieces and it made sense to have a defender who is strong in the air, start. They would have troubled Skrtel and Kyrgiakos more had they played the ball on the deck more, as other teams have. Instead they opted to play high crosses, which is something our giant Greek thrives on.

An important point to note for me, was the body language shown by the players. When I saw Torres smiling at the beginning of the game, it gave me a good feeling. We played hard and we closed down the opposition. I'm really surprised it took Hodgson this long to take action. Torres looked happier having Gerrard right behind him and Stevie made a couple of invisive passes to him. Let's hope we keep the momentum going.

Like you I was a little nervous after Blackburn scored totally against the run of play. Up until that point they had offered nothing as an attacking force and a draw would have been hard on us. The decision to replace Kalinic with Benjani was a good one as he was more mobile and his movement did create some difficulty for us in the 2nd half. Thankfully, players like Mereiles and Lucas were working hard and backtracked really well.

Back to my choice for player of the moment.

I'm not blind to the fact that he was good at Gremio. His performance last night was reminiscent of his form in Brazil. I dont lable players after just one game. I know better than that after watching football for over two decades. It is a FACT that he (to be politically correct), struggled until the end of last season. What's wrong with calling a lemon, a lemon?

If someone had a crap game, should be refrain for saying so? Let's use nicer words the next time. Here's another FACT. A player can be crap but like other Liverpool fans I appreciate work ethic. It's why I like less talented players like Biscan and Meijer. If Lucas plays his heart out each game, he'll draw no criticism from me or any other Liverpool fan.
